Cash only for test rides! They can hand you a bogus cashier's check and steal your Kick in a heartbeat. It happens all the time. I work in banking, and can confirm this. I've definitely thought about this, never had it happen though. Either sit back further, as suggested, or splay your legs out wide so your knees are nearly handlebar width. Proooobably not super safe, but neither is your engine turning of at speed.

For what it's worth, I've stopped using the kill switch and just use the key now, and haven't had an issue since.

The switch under the seat kills the fuel pump and is an anti-theft mechanism, or so I'm told.
