I'd ask why you are using wide open throttle before completing the break-in period, and also what octane gasoline you are using. Perhaps the rattle sound is pre-ignition from using too low an octane gasoline.. just a guess, and not a very good one at that.

Not all are as bad as the PGO/Buddy. The Honda and Yamaha speedometers on the scooters and cubs I have are only slightly optimistic.. perhaps 2-3 mph at 55 mph.. We should probably give this topic a rest.. been discussed many times on this board.

What eggsalad said.. your numbers are what you should expect with a Buddy 125. Same as what everyone else sees with theirs. That is why Buddy MPH numbers are called BMPH numbers on this forum.

Sorry to be so blunt, but I think Dan is wrong.. the "wiring resistance" is negligible. The reason for not directly connecting to the battery, is that the best path to the inside of the seat bucket is the way eggsalad did it.

I hadn't noticed that.. the one in the lower photo though does appear to have the "bump" in the right side of the handlebar cover, and so I think it has disk brakes. Maybe the drum brake is specific to year, engine size, or country?
