I hit a pothole on 80 doing about 75 mph on my mp3. The hit was so hard it knocked my gps HOLDER out of it's mounting sockets. Thank god the power cable kept it on board.

Some potholes are just going to get you.

I grab the rear brake just before I take it off the rear stand. I don't want to run the risk of the wheel catching and throwing me off balance when it comes down.

Yes earbuds are illegal here in CA. As for safety, I wouldn't recommend wearing them at low speed because you can still here things and that is a safety factor. But at highway speeds you're not going to hear anything so might as well add some tunes to the ride.

I would HIGHLY recommend noise protection for any sustained high speed riding. You will damge your hearing with prolonged exposure to loud noise. Thanks for clarifying rickko. I didn't know they had other issues that contributed to the problem. But the boom is also clearly contributing to the problem. Just be glad you don't own an italian bike. They take the whole month of August off! You should hear all of the complaining on the MP3 forums :(

I was watching the opening ceremonies with my wife and her 2 friends, all of which are Taiwanese. It was not a pretty sight when that flag popped onto the screen.

I don't know any Taiwanese or Mandarin curse words but I'm sure I heard a few that night.

All bikes, actually all vehicles, have a vibration speed. It's usually a narrow band of speed where everything just kinda resonates throughout the whole vehicle. Just avoid that speed or you could start to rattle bolts loose.

I mounted my Garmin Nuvi 200 to a handmade bracket that attached to the mirror posts on my wife's Buddy.

Very handy just having the visual indicators for direction.

My mount required me to destroy the original Garmin bracket but it has clocked 3500 miles on my scooter since I moved it over.

I'm very sensitive to bright light so I wear sunglasses almost religiously. My Nolan N102 modular allows me to wear them without taking them on and off when I flip up or remove the helmet. These protect ONLY from abrasion or road rash. If you're serious about protection consider something with armor for the knees and hips in addition to abrasion resistance.

That being said, I've been eyeing the draggin' jeans myself. I just don't need full protection for short low speed trips.

You also have to watch out for the flesh burning tail pipe when walking a bike. I've got a few scars from my younger days when I'd try to squeeze it into a tight spot. I hate the smell of burning flesh.
