Getting the diaphragm to seal around the edge can sometimes be tricky and frustrating. A pinhole leak in a diaphragm is also not unheard of.

It is unfortunate that available whitewall tires which fit the Buddy are not particularly good quality. If I had to have whitewalls, I'm with ScootERIK - I'd experiment with white sidewall paint.

I'm not sure a Buddy 50 really needs much in the way of accessories. The one thing I would recommend (for any scooter) is a rear rack, with or without topcase (your call).

My understanding is that neither rider was wearing a helmet. Stir in limited experience and little or no training - this was an accident waiting to happen on busy urban streets IMO.

Our Buddys run fine on E10 (10% ethanol fuel), but I use recreational (non-ethanol) gas for the last refueling before winter storage. I have less trouble with the scooter in the spring that way.
