That sounds like the main fuse. Even with a dead battery all the lights should work once you kickstart it.

The lance stuff is decent. Its a SYM with cheaper body parts/suspension. Sym makes good stuff.

Octane and ethanol have nothing to do with each other. Avoid ethanol if you can (its rough on small motors and collects water). As far as octane- if it's still stock it will run on anything 87 and up ...

I would be more concerned with the shear index than startup viscosity. At running temps it's a 40 weight.
