Pull the topcase, put on a small windscreen, get a full face helmet with faceshield and crouch. The lower you get the better. Or, if you want to go faster buy a faster scoot.

I kinda agree with Dave. Sounds like rider error. Rider error can be fixed by taking the Basic Rider Course from MSF.

Did you happen to have the bars turned in these cases (assuming the front lockup is true)? Do you tend to ride fast? Is there dirt or oil on the road where you stop? Some more info would help.

The engine doesn't matter, and higher speed is worse. The issue is that with less gear and more air, your sweat evaporates too quickly to be effective.
