Hay Ya,
I was wondering if any of you have ordered the Buddy scale models from Scooterworks. The description say's these models have rubber tires, real spring for the rear suspension and vinyl seating. They do sound realistic. _________________ Aerosmith, None Other.

I agree with the shape.Something isn't quite right with the front plastic & front wheel area. It's kinda like the front plastic area is to fat and the front wheel is pushed in.But yea you can plainly see they are Buddy's.... _________________ Aerosmith, None Other.

These are fun. I notice the St. Tropez seat is the wrong color though. Maybe that is dealt with paint? _________________

Where are you all seeing pictures of this Buddy model. When I go on the Scooterworks website, there is a listing for the 1/12 scale model (backordered) with no picture and no description.

I'm getting a kick out of this. Have you ever seen a bobblehead that actually looked right? I'd say the model maker did a pretty good job.
Where's the Blur model, though?

yep, read that book as a kid several times! Always liked Beverly Cleary's books (Henry and Beezus, and the like). Was a simpler time then! Ramona (the brat) would probably be sporting tattoos and riding a Harley if the books were written today. And anorexic, caught in pre-teen angst and rebelling against the establishment!

(better photo there, well, same photo but better resolution)
I saw some samples, they look pretty awesome in person. The proportions looked pretty right-on to me, Might just be the camera angle/lens...
I think they're "backordered" because they're still waiting for the big shipment.
I can't wait to see how people customize them to match their bikes. _________________ 2strokebuzz: When news breaks, we put it under a tarp in the garage.

There's a similar model of the Honda Metropolitan with rubber tires and suspension, etc. It's pretty awesome! I unscrewed the scoot from the stand so I can push it around on my desk. haha. It even has a little working center stand.
I can't wait to get my hands on a model of my Buddy. I'm so glad they have my color- light blue! _________________ Killer Bees Scooter Club Fort Collins, CO

No, it's not but if I recall all the early Italia (07) promo shots looked that way. I was VERY happy when I saw my first one in real life and they were not like that!

I have the Italia model sitting on my desk
It has a working center stand AND side stand! The only off thing is the exhaust cover...the model has this weird Terminator-esque chrome thing, whereas in real life, it's black. But really, I forget all about this error when I play with the working rear shock!
The colors and proportions do look more accurate in real life than in that image.
We've got them all in now, so try SW again, or your dealers.

My Italia has the weird, terminator-esque exhaust thing... they must have modeled them after the '07s, which is weird, but oh well.
Any chance we can see some pics with different angles and/or size comparison? _________________

The exhaust cover changed to black when the Internationals became 150's.

That's why I was saying it was weird that they would be modeled after the '07 Buddys, but only have the '08 colors.
Don't the new 125s have black exhaust covers too? _________________

nope - chrome.
the shape on the model is the more terminatory thing about it..not the fact that it's chrome.

I have one sitting on my desk as I type. The model is red, my Bud is red, the exhaust heat shield on both are chrome. The heat shield on the model is flat and a sort of polygon shape. The chrome heat shield on my actual Bud is rounded and curved. I guess the model maker just cut a corner here for simplicity (or more accurately, didn't cut corners). Those of you that have a newer International, why not just paint the exhaust shield of the model black. Voila, problem solved.

Have you color-matched any paint? I was thinking of using up my stash of nail polish I made when I first scratched Pinky. It's been nearly two years -- time to replenish the stash! |
I'm not going for exact, just "good enough for government work" type of thing.
Haven't even looked yet, maybe this weekend.

You did that now or when you were a kid??
What else I remember is that my brother and I did that so to soften the blow, so to speak. We knew we 'were gonna get it when dad came home'
