Now that the weather's getting nicer, I've been taking the scoot out for joyrides again instead of just to work or the store. Only 1k miles on the bike in the last few colder months, so I've been slacking!

Here's some sites that I've been looking over for ideas.

http://www.motorcycleroads.com/ Routes submitted by riders, with reviews and you can organize by type of road/trip.

http://www.sundaymorningrides.com/ Has GPS (brand specif downloads) routes that can be downloaded.

http://www.openroadjourney.com/ Really nice Search feature that lets you specify how far you want to go and has icons for type of ride.

Have some more? Post em!

Those are great links. I foolishly purchased the url http://scootinamerica.com/
with the idea to put in all the road info I collected from my 22k journey. My hope was that it would be collaborative with other scooterists. By scooterists, for scooterists kinda thing, with detailed descriptions on gas, lodging, road conditions that apply most to scooterists. For instance, a scooter doesn't go as far on a tank of gas as a motorcycle, and in many parts of the country, gas stations can be peppered 140 miles apart.

Obviously, I've done nothing with that project, having enough in front of me right now. Also, the effort might be pointless because we have Modern Buddy and those other links you mentioned. Smile

I would love to have/contribute to something like this, I'm all about sharing routes, gas stops, good places to stop and see things, good places to stop for a bite. It could be as simple as links to google directions with details and notes added. It's better to find someone else's route often because perhaps they figured out that if you bomb the fwy for a few miles in a certain spot, it'll save you a few hours of riding and get you close to a gas station.
here's two great routes that people should try:
Trip back http://tinyurl.com/cy5br6

Trip there http://tinyurl.com/d2n9vg
note that you need a full tank of spare gas on 25.

Bump.

I figured this was a good time to bring this back up, you know, since it's so friggin hot and all. Nothing better than a nice long scenic trip when it's 100 outside Rolling Eyes

OK, snarkiness aside, I'm going to be putting a snippet in the FAQ reguarding resources for trip planning, so more input would be lovely.

So let's hear em!

Ah, thanks LMC! As I was on a cross-country train trip at the time, I totally missed this thread when you started it originally. Very Happy

I found a very interesting sourse. It's called veloroutes.org. It's specifically designed for bicyclists, but they look for the same things we do. It will also let you design your own and save them to the site.
