I went down to see my dealer this afternoon and we put my new SS220i up on the stand, took the transmission cover off, removed the variator, and measured and weighed the roller weights.
So here it is: The roller dimensions are 19mm X 15mm. The weight per each is 14.5 grams.
Unfortunately, in our excitement, we forgot to measure the belt, but I'll do that when my new Dr. Pulley 13.5 gram sliders come in.
This transmission is totally different from the 150 Blur. Bigger parts, more robust castings in the case, etc.
Start tweaking, guys and gals.

That's excellent. Thanks for confirming. Are there six weights to the new variator?

When you put the weights in, take a look at the belt all the way around. The size should be printed on there.

Yes. Six weights.
In a few days I'll re-post the belt size.

Thanks for the confirmation. I asked mainly because some larger displacement variators opt for an 8 roller variator (tends to give a smoother response at an added replacement cost). I'll start gathering some info for a Blur 2.0 Spec file. This is a big help.

I've a feeling that you're going to like the sliders, good call on going just a gram lighter. Too light and you loose your top end and MPG's.

Gmax / Blur 200

Must be the same size as the Gmax 200cc. The pulleys are bigger than a sym Joyride but the belt does not max out. So I just put in a racing pulley for a Joyride200.

Blur 220i

PostPosted: Mon Aug 23, 2010 9:02 pm    Post subject: Does the 220i take the same size variator/pulley as the 250? Reply with quote

Dones anyone know if the Blur 220i has the same transmission as the PGO Gmax 250? The reason I ask is because I have been thinking about trying the J.Costa variator. On the J.Costa web site it shows a variator for the PGO Gmax 250. I was hoping that our 220i takes the same size so I can try one. If anyone knows please chime in.

IIRC, The GMax 250 had a Kymco engine, of all things. It looked vaguely the same, esp. the front, but the suspension and engine were all different.

Blur 220i

PostPosted: Tue Aug 24, 2010 4:20 pm    Post subject: Blur 220i shares transmission with Kymco & SYM Reply with quote

I just spoke to someone overseas who builds race scooters. He informed me that the transmission in the PGO Gmax 200cc is the same transmission from the Kymco Grand Dink 250. I am trying to confirm if the Gmax 200 uses the same transmission as the 220i. I am assuming so, and if this is the case you could order a variator for the Kymco Grand Dink 250 for our bikes! Does anyone know the measurements of the width across the variator and the clutch bell? My tech guy is asking me for this information to confirm that it will fit but I am not at home to take the cover off to measure. It shuould be between 125-155mm across he said.

The Gmax200 shares the same parts as the Joyride200 and the Dink150. It has bigger variator and bell as compared to the Gmax/Blur 150.

Blur 220i

PostPosted: Wed Sep 01, 2010 9:15 pm    Post subject: which transmission is shared? Reply with quote

Just so I understand correctly, the Blur 220i shares the transmission with the Dink 150? So I can order the J.Costa variator for the Dink 150 & it will work in the Blur 220i? I was told that the transmission on the Blur 220i was shared from one of the other 250cc bikes - the Dink 250 or the SYM 250? Please confirm

@davelhunter

I'm not sure about the Gmax220 having the same parts as the Kymco GD250. We don't have Gmax 220i here yet.

I do own a Gmax200. It has bigger variator, bell and clutch as compared to the Gmaz150.

We don't have a racing pulley or bell available for the Gmax200, but the koso or yamasida pulleys for the Sym Joyride 200 fits and performs better that stock. It is 1-1.5mm smaller in diameter but the belts goes higher as compared to the stock Gmax pulley.

Clutch and Clutch bell even torque drive are exactly same specs as for the Joyride200 and DINK150. Not sure about the GRANDINK250. The 250cc Dink might have a bigger parts.

Hope this helps

Blur 220i

PostPosted: Fri Sep 03, 2010 4:15 am    Post subject: Finally...conformation from PGO Taiwan about the 220i CVT Reply with quote

Read below. This is the email response I received directly from PGO Taiwan. This clears it up.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Hi, Hunter,

About your question,

1: The G-MAX220 CVT is same to G-MAX 200

2: The G-MAX 220 CVT is NOT the same one on G-MAX250

3: The G-MAX 220 CVT is same to KYMCO DINK 150

4: The G-MAX 220 CVT is same to SYM JOYRIDE 180 (not JOYRIDE250)

Hope the info is what you needed.

Regards,

Johnny,

Thanks for your reply. I talked to someone in Taiwan and they said that the PGO Gmax 200 transmission is shared with the Kymco Dink 150 & Joyride 250. Sorry I thought they said Dink 250 last time. Does The Gmax 220i have same CVT as the Gmax 250 or Gmax 200cc? Please let me know.

@ davelhunter

That clears things out. =)

The Joyride is indeed 180cc... but we call it Joyride200 here. =)

The Gmax250 has the same engine as the Kymco Bet n Win / Grandink 250. Note that is not mono shock anymore as compared to our scoots.
