|
|
My name is Grant. This is my situation. I have a 2008 genuine roughhouse 50. A long story shorter, it was badly damaged several months ago and I have run into roadblock after roadblock in the task of repairing it. I am to the point that it simply needs to be rejetted and tuned. But herein lies the problem. During repairs, I fitted it with a Minarelli 70cc kit. I took it to a dealer to have it rejetted, but neither Genuine, nor ScooterWorks, nor anyone at the myriad of 2stroke motorcycle parts distributers the mechanic called has been able to track down size 38 and size 40 jets that fit the keihin carb that comes stock on these bikes!
I am up against a stone wall, and this is my only form of transportation. Many parts of my life have ground to an unholy halt due to this thing being out of commission for months. So, do any of you have any ideas of how to find the jets, or know a repair or machine shop that would tackle making or boreing out some custom jets? Or ANY other solution (different carb possibly?) Any help or advice at all would be immensely appreciated.
I love this scooter very much. His name is Sisyphus, he has been stolen, returned, beat up, and never quit. I have little money, but I am determined to get him back running again!
Thank you all for your time, and may your rides be safe!!

Your mechanic didn't think to take stock jets and drill them out to the size needed?
Have YOU tried to find the correct jets?

Not to sound like an ass but this is the HACK method and does nothing but frustrate the next guy in line that has to jet the bike. Ever tried to ID a drilled jet??

Are you talking about your idle jet? At only a 38 or 40 I hope so... _________________ EZPZ #65

Your right, you might as well take the bike to the dump since you can't ride it and god forbid you HACK it while your inept mechanic finds you the correct parts.

Grant, I know there are a few RH and Rattler50 owners out there with the 70cc kit on their bikes and have them running pretty good. Obviously you're looking for their input here but have you tried over at genuinerattler.com? Never hurts to have two lines out while fishing. _________________ EZPZ #65

Find someone skillful enough to IDand measure EXACTLY what main and pilot jets are in the carb now. The numbers you cited seem way too small for a main jet.

Yeah, that better be the idle jet, as a 40 main is TINY. Thats much smaller than the stock one(A 72 if I remember right). _________________ Checkout Voodoo Buddy for current mods.
