[NBR]Got some new wheels :)

Post by docutech »

Today I received a call from the shipping company advising me that my new bike will be arriving on March 24th :)

It is a 2007 Buell Lightning XB12S. It is brand new with 5 miles on the odometer. Here are a few pics.

How much if you don't mind me asking? If it's a brand new '07, did you get an awesome deal?

If it's none of my business just tell me so. No hard feelings. I'm just curious.

Vroom! Vroom! I love it. I bet you got a great deal, too. Be sure to tune in the AMA Sport Bike class races where the Buell 1125Rs are racing against the Japanese 600cc bikes.

I like the "translucid" airbox cover. I rode an XB12s for a day. One unexpected moment came when I got on the gas in a turn and the front wheel came off the ground! Suddenly I was headed for the weeds. Backing off the gas settled it back down. Exciting bike. Love the color.

Smooth as silk...

However, dont let the smooth-ness fool you, imagine a devil in a silk suit. Sort of like that.

Nice ride. I thought about a Buell before I got the Rattler. I just don't need all that bike to go to work and get my errands done. I'm soooo freakin jealous :?

Thanks for the kind comments everyone!

The Buell arrived today! After a quick once over to make sure things were okee-dokee, I signed the delivery papers and the driver was on his way. As I rolled the bike in the garage, I noticed that the mirrors were a bit loose. Then, as I am turning the bike around i notice that the handlebars are loose! :x After tightening things up I was ready to crank her up :D Wouldn't you know, it would not start! :x It would sputter and spit, miss, choke, cough and everything else under the sun but would not stay running no matter what.

Frustrated, I picked up the phone and called my dealer, who mind you in Jacksonville, FL. I explained to him what was happening and he patched me through to their service department. I explained to the tech exactly what was going on, he chuckled and said: "Ride it like you stole it!" lol, made me think of MikeTapps...lol

Okay, so I get out there and try to ride it around the neighborhood. I am sure the neighbors were pleased with all the coughing and backfiring that was going on. The bike literally sounded like it was running on one cylinder! I figured I would get out on some main roads and open her up. Sure enough, same thing. Sounded horrible and jerked me around something awefull.

As I approached a pretty long and steep hill, I prayed that this thing wouldn't die on me on the way up. So I accelerated smoothly and all of a sudden the bike CAME TO LIFE! It scared the snot out of me! It pulled like a freight train up the hill and whatever it was causing it to act up obviously fixed itself. The bike ran like a thoroughbred! Just to ease my mind I stopped at a local HD/Buell dealer and spoke with a couple Buell techs. They narrowed it down to a fouled plug as the culprit. The more the bike warmed up the more the plug cleaned itself to correct the problem. It runs and idles like a champ!

OMG guys, this thing is incredibly powerful and handles like a dream.

Pictures soon!
