MB Twitter Roll Call
If you don't know what it is, just ignore this and move on. These are official scootercentirc feeds. I'm leaving off personal feeds from individuals. Members can add theirs here if they want.

@Chicago_SC
@Ruckuslife
@scootnashville
@scooterdiva
@TheScootShop (Sacramento)
@Topz (Sacramento SC)

@vespalexington
I'm @ericalm. Considering starting a MB/scooter-only feed, though, because this contains all my narcissistic personal ravings that people say they hate about social media. And there's a lot of it, too.
If you want to hear what I have to say about tv, commercials, publishing, media, etc. you can follow @EricOnMedia.

Re: MB Twitter Roll Call
OKAY. It's a microblogging platform. Users have 140 characters to post a link, message or whatever they like. This runs the gamut from people's thoughts about the weather, keeping in touch with friends, RSS-like feeds from bloggers, to companies using it as a platform for interacting with customers. What's it used for? Whatever you want. I use it for all of the above. It's the fastest-growing social media platform. It's also become a huge value to marketers who use it to track trends and what people are talking about. It's kind of the buzz thing right now, until the next buzz thing comes along. It's big enough that Facebook tried to buy them, they said no, and Facebook responded with a redesign to emulate Twitter, which pissed off their users.ericalm wrote:If you don't know what it is, just ignore this and move on.
I like it because I get the updates through a client on my desktop or iPhone without having to go to the web or wade through other junk, as with Facebook status updates.

All I can say is, I warned you and wouldn't be offended if you stopped following me.jmazza wrote:I've tried Twitter a couple of times and just never totally gotten in the groove. My last tweet is from Dec 28 of '08 saying "ok Twitter this could be our year."
So far it hasn't.
I'm going to follow all the above and try again.

I've been on Twitter since Nov. 4, 2007 ... and it's fun to see how it's blowing up now.

I suppose I should be upset, even feel violated, but I'm not. No, in fact, I think this is a friendly message, like "Hey, wanna play?" and yes I want to play. I really really do.

I've averaged 5.6/day for a total of 3,165 posts. And I've been sick this week, so my posting has slowed.

There are all sorts of ways to control privacy settings for Facebook and Twitter that will allow access to only those you allow. That said, there are some problems with this, even. First, you have to be proactive about it. The default is usually "full access." Second, it's very easy for people to get enough info to stalk you if they really set their minds to it.r0sa wrote:all of this just sounds crazy, twitter, facebook, etc...what makes ya'll think there isn't a stalker out there to get you
stalkers are crazy!
The web used to be all about anonymity and now it's all about individuality, personal branding and groups. I've just come to grips with the fact that in exchange for a certain amount of connectivity and networking, I've had to surrender a lot of personal privacy. For instance, my Flickr has all sorts of stuff in it, from professional work to personal pics. I tried to keep two professional and one personal Twitter accounts, but it all got blurred. So, instead, I just have to be a bit more careful about what I say.
Maybe I just have a somewhat optimistic, rose-colored view of things. Maybe it's because I'm older, male, and an unlikely stalker target.

I only started using Twitter last year... I normally am all over tech geek stuff way before it gets big, but just kind of had it with all the new crap and never joined when I heard about it. I also resisted Facebook until last year, and am glad I signed up.

O, I have just as many stalkers now as I did pre-Web2.0. I don't think these technologies really change anything unless you want them to.r0sa wrote:all of this just sounds crazy, twitter, facebook, etc...what makes ya'll think there isn't a stalker out there to get you

Speaking of stalkers. I could use a hobby. Who wants me to be their personal stalker for a while?
I added some of the links above and noone seems to be updating. Get on it peeps. Don't sit around working, waste some time like the rest of us!

Too late. I am already in stalker mode.
BTW, could you do me a favor and leave the curtain open in the living room. I am having a hard time seeing what you are watching on TV.
Tnx.

Hilarious. From new Sprint commercial:
"233,000 people just Twittered on Twitter. 26% of you viewing this have no idea what that means."

I had to ditch Ericalm, he's one of those people that twitters everytime he goes to the bathroom.
But I should use it more for 2SB, it's a neat tool, I just think there are a few different schools of thought about how it's best used. Which is fine, because no one's making you follow anyone.

Done is done. You can now follow my scooter tweets and any ModernBuddy goings on without having to read about the minutiae of my life, what I'm having for lunch, and my attempts to goad my wife into crocheting me something really stupid.
