I have pretty much fallen in love with all things scooter, but I'm glad I'm not the only one around here! Other than that, I'm a freshman taking classes for Nursing, who loves photography, and making music.
God bless you, alexnick, we need more nurses. You're likely to meet a cute girl to ride with in nursing school. Best wishes.

Actually due to the extended years of drinking coffee full strength, drinking decaf causes me to go into shock . :goofy:

My all-time favorite Monty Python quote is my current voice mail message:
"I'm 37. I'm not OLD."
Technically, I'm not 37 for another couple of weeks, but I have been looking forward to being able to say this for the next year for quite some time now.

Back in the day when it actually meant something that we wore battered Chucks and listened to Siouxsie and Skinny Puppy and slam danced at Theatre Gallery and Twilight Room when Deep Ellum was just Commerce Street...and gosh darn it I feel OLD now.

CRAPPITY.
Dude, I had Siouxsie hair and eyeliner. She was my idol.

I still sport my Misfits tattoo with pride.
bunny, you're just a year younger than me—if you were hanging out in those places it's a wonder we never met. I used to ditch school, go record shopping at VVV, then see a movie at the Inwood or shopping on Lower Greenville. Did you ever hang out at any FW clubs?

Angela, Sioux was an idol for me, too. I was even wearing the big Sioux head t-shirt in my fake ID picture (Vikon Village, any of you DFW people? Fake ID central!).

Though I must confess, I was more new wave than punk. And I mean that in all the worst, most embarrassing ways.
Some of my fondest memories were ditching school and going downtown. Millenium was this way neato memorabilia shop across the street from Fair Park. I attempted my fake ID phase, particulalry at Prophet Bar, except I looked twelve, so it didn't work. Eh, I still look twelve sometimes, for that matter. I don't remember going to FW, well wait...foggy memory, but I see something FW-ish in my head from that time. I remember VVV and that other record place in Richardson. Vikon Village...home of the hoodlum. The boy I dated skated at Bachman pretty much every other day. It's possible we did meet...

On a side note, I went to a Ministry concert back a few years. I must have been in my early twenties at the time...anywho, I was "ahem" experimenting and a young lass not much older than 17 came up and asked how old I was. I told her and she looked at me with big eyes and said, "Wow. You were around when it was the REAL stuff." I remember thinking, 'as opposed to this fake stuff that seems to work quite well?' THAT, my scooter friends, THAT made me feel old
Yes, it's fast. No, you can't ride it.

This is a KZ200.

<a href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/loodie/3513016206/" title="kz200 by loodieisthebestest, on Flickr"><img src="http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3584/351 ... 313c14.jpg" width="500" height="334" alt="kz200" /></a>

Not mine, but it is the same year, model, and color as the one I once owned.

I purchased it in the same year it was manufactured, and I was 19 years its senior.

We looked like this (yes kids, those things are called tube socks (an early form of ATGATT), and yes kids, I had a buggar in my eye).

<a href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/loodie/3512210825/" title="3090_1076369748492_1203660134_30232564_5876098_s by loodieisthebestest, on Flickr"><img src="http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3335/351 ... 4ded_o.jpg" width="130" height="129" alt="3090_1076369748492_1203660134_30232564_5876098_s" /></a>

It perished circa 1985 (RIP), but I didn't. That makes me ___ years old today.
Clearly.

That's great to hear. I've been married only about 5 years and look forward to the day I can say exactly what you just did. Every year seems to get better and better, and it was good to begin with.

You know it's interesting to see all the people I meet on 2 wheels are all 2-3 times older than me. When you're talking online, you cant see each others faces, but when you see each other in person it's like "WOW! Look at all the middle aged people!"

I've long thought that one of the advantages of getting older is that there are progressively more younger men/women to admire as the years go by.

I'll be 34 in August. Not married but will be when she gets done with school. My GF of five years and I live in South Fla, we rent our house, cause quite frankly I wanna leave here. But we live with our five cats-Djembe-DJ. Easy Cheeze, Francis, Anthony, and our lone girlie girl Princess Gracie. We have a Scion XA, my Rat and I own two bicycles.

Funny post Doug!

But not all old people are old! My great grandmother lived to be 103 before she kicked the bucket, and she didnt turn old until the recent last 10 years of her life maybe. Say around 90+ she got seriously old old. Before that, she was taking care of herself, walking just fine, swimming and working out in the gym daily. She's still be alive and healthy if my great Aunt never sent her to the nursing home.

So remember...76? You think you're old? You're YOUNG compared to my great grandmother! You think your back hurts, your teeth rot out, your grand kids never visit, medication is expensive, and you cant figure out how to use those tiny new cellular mobile phone things, stop complaining!

My grandfather has a hat someone gave him a few years ago, he's around your age, actually I think maybe older, not sure, I forgot. His hat says "I'm no senior citizen, I'm just a recycled teenager!"

34 married, male, with kids

I'm actually pretty surprised at the spread of the ages represented here, I figured there would be a lot more people of youth than there are, good to see the old farts are well represented.

Hey we have the same birthday! Except I'd be 49 years younger than you.

The scootering community overall has been getting older. this isn't just long time owners aging, but also the average age for new owners. The median at ModernVespa is probably over 40 at this point. I also think the larger scooters appeal to older riders.

The Buddy community is still younger, thanks in part to the Bud's lower price point.
