I'm an addict

Post by Angela »

I am obsessed with my scooter. I started to only socialize with other scooterists (luckily many of my friends have scooters). I go to sleep and have dreams about scooters and spend much of my free time cleaning and primping her.

Anyone else have this problem? Should I get help?

I don't even have my scooter yet and I feel the same way! I used to check craigslist 40 times a day for a scooter. Now that mine in is on order I check MB incessantly instead. Only 11 more days until I get my scooter!!

Its the weird scooter related dreams I have that freak me out.

I'm starting to plan vacations that involve bringing my scooter along.

I bounced around the house for half an hour at least when I discovered I could fit my scooter, my dog, and luggage in my car at the same time. I see a beach trip in my not-so-distant future. ;)

As for the dreams...eh: it'll pass. (maybe.)

That's not an addiction. Honest. We could all quit anytime we want!
Some days I go an entire 35 minutes without checking to see if there's any new posts on MB!

Nothing to see here....

Er... that's what I'm doing. In fact, my summer vacation plan was inspired by the scooter-related thought "You know, I could go for a ride up the coast on this...." Now I'm mapping routes and reserving camp sites at state parks for a week-long ride around the Lake.

The boyfriend and I are going over to our friend's house tonight. They are not scooter people. I have no idea what I'm going to talk about while they chain smoke and I think of how I can improve leaning on my turns.

Get them to talk about the economy, then you can tell them how much you save on your scooter. ;)

Actually the day before yesterday (or was it yesterday?) I didn't check MB once. I didn't
even touch the computer, just to see if I could go 24 hours without using the internet.

I was home almost all day too, so that made it harder, but I found stuff to do... stuff I
should've been doing all along and should be doing right now! Such as laundry, cleaning,
organizing, working on the scooter, etc.

I actually go to Oregon quit often. I also enjoy Portland but I have seen very little of it. In a few years I am probably going to move to Oregon but I'm not sure where. It's a tough choice. Too bad I never have my scooter whilst visiting. When I do I will let you know. I would love to go for a ride.

I don't understand this. You went 24 hours without—what? That's like fasting. Or not breathing for a day. Incomprehensible!

Also, we missed you.

As far as the addiction, well…
I found myself running a scooter site, on staff at another, organizing the local scooter group and planning most of the rides.

You're really addicted when your garage looks like this. This picture doesn't even include my new Zuma 125.

Holy crap the seat on that Riva is kind of AMAZING! My friend has a Riva, it's red and looks just like every other one I've ever seen (a little shabby), it's their knock-around scoot. yours is probably the best-kept one I've ever seen, very nice!

Thanks! It's not that pearly white anymore though. The seat was redone by the previous owner. The scooter isn't even running right now due to some random unknown electrical problem that i've yet to figure out. Here's what it looks like nowadays.

Addict? Naaaaaaa. But I have spent a little more time away from MB over the past several days... nearly learned Javascript programming... so absolutely no increased productivity benefit what so ever...

So I went to Home Depot Saturday to get some things for the boyfriend and there are a bunch of motorcycle guys who work there and they crowded around my scooter and tried to convince me to get a small motorcycle instead of riding a scooter.

Man, some people just don't get that not everyone wants a motorcycle, some are perfectly happy with a scooter.

Know what you mean, my co-workers call me a Scooter Nerd. I have several pictures of scooter rides and a scooter calendar in my office not to mention 2 scooter on my printer. Yep, I crazy about these little buggers. Nothing to worry about because scooters are very cool.

It gets really bad when you start surfing the Web for scooter porn. And no, I'm not talking about sex on scooters, I'm litterly talking about graphic pictures of scooters, scooter magazines, scooter message boards...

Here's the opening of one particularly steamy post:

I managed to out hard-core every single 2 wheeled rider at my company the other day. Houston was having a TON of rain Monday night with some flooding, and it was raining pretty steadily on my way out the door Tuesday morning. I just shrugged, put on my rain gear and came to work anyways while avoiding the flooded roads. When I got to work, there were only 2 motorcycles and a scooter parked there. It turns out all of them had been left there the previous evening - I was the only person out of the few thousand people that work in my offices that bothered to ride in. I'd say that counts as fairly "addicted" :-) Even a somewhat wet day on the scooter is better than taking the car ... that and paying 5-10$ for parking downtown. I'm a notorious cheapskate :P

Hi all,

I've been away from MB since about Oct. or Nov. of last year--I didn't ride in the winter, so reading MB made it too torturous. Just brought her out of hibernation last week, and am back...and back to the addiction. It's been so rainy in Chicago, that she's been under the cover, and I have to make due with snorting MB, injecting MB, and doing MB shots.

I've missed this "commmunity." Chicago riders---lets go!!

I'll admit it, I'm an addict. I got my scoot (my very first one) on Tuesday and LOVED driving it the 7ish miles home so much, I decided to drive it to work, school, and then home on Wednesday.

So I didn't drive Giovanna (a 2009 Buddy Italia) yesterday OR today and I am starting to go through withdrawal. I didn't even check on her to make sure she was ok in the garage yesterday. I am debating on riding her tonight after work or maybe tomorrow. Definitely, bringing my Italian beauty to North Beach Sunday to enjoy some gelato and sun!

BUT, the crazy part, before I bought her, I had dreams about scooters for like 4/5 nights. One dream even had Barry, the owner of the scooter shop I bought Giovanna from, in it. That was insane! So yes I am an addict but you know what? Beats what my siblings have been addicted to...

As a side note, I should fake sick at work today because it is such a beautiful and sunny day outside, a PERFECT day for scattering (except I have found wearing my sunglasses under my helmet really really hurts my ears but no pain, no game!)

I have no problems admitting my addiction...on a side note: we had a department wide luncheon a couple weeks ago and I won The Smiley Face Award for being in a perky mood ALL.THE.TIME. WHen they ask why I'm always so perky, I always answer, "Any day I ride in on two wheels is a fabulous day!" I start giggling about 10 minutes into my ride to work every morning and 5 minutes out of the parking lot every night...

There is no high like a scooter induced high.

Scooter withdrawal

Post by Carbolic »

I just got back from a week-long trip to Canada yesterday, and I realized for the first time that I am truly addicted to my scooter.

I rode and rode last night, even offering to pick up anything my wife needed at the store since I was going by there anyway.

Twice I pulled back up to my house, thinking I was done, only to change my mind and zoom off again. :D

I am on my 4th season and think about them a lot too. Interwebs wise, I have slowed down and am in a holding pattern waiting to see what the next genuine 270 will be like.

I am especially interested when I am on vacation and see scoots, more so overseas since there are so many. My head (and heart) practically explodes in Europe from scooter mania.

I am going to China in a few days. I wonder what that will be like? will the scoots be as ugly as they are here? I guess there is no problem with parts availibility

I didn't realize how addicted I was until these past couple weeks. I need a new rear tire and was planning on replacing it at 5,000 miles. I'm only 300 miles away from that. I won't have money for it until Monday.

I don't go anywhere anymore unless I can scoot there. If loving my Buddy so much is wrong, I don't want to be right. This isn't Brokeback Mountain: "I wish I could quit you".
