I thought I answered this, but can't find my reply in the thread.
I'm an interactive designer and user experience consultant. I help companies plan, design and build websites, mobile applications and other online properties. Some of my clients are Microsoft, 3M (Post it, Scotch, Littmann, ESPE, Filtrete), UnitedHealth Group, Jostens, Coldwell Banker, BMW, Thomson Reuters/WestLaw, Cargill, TimeWarner, Best Buy ... currently I work for an agency in MPLS, and don't do much freelance.

And some fine-looking ukes on your website, if I do say so. My young son (with a little help from me) built one from a Grizzly or some such kit last year, and he's turning into a good player. Perhaps we'll upgrade him for a highschool grad presentSilver Streak wrote:Custom ukulele builder. Retired former government laboratory research director.

I'm a fulltime "Firefighter/EMT" in Northern Virginia (across the river from Washington). Been doing it for over 8 years, and my usual assignment is Driver/Pump Operator of the Engine, covering the western portion of the County. I also sometimes ride the "backstep" position on the Engine, or drive the EMS unit.

I'm a KC-135 Crew Chief for the Nebraska Air National Guard. I'm basically the maintenance coordinator for my airplane and get to go with her all over the world. If you'd like to see some of my videos from Air Refueling Ops, go here: http://www.youtube.com/user/buckeyemike20?feature=mhee
These were taken a few years ago when I was with the Ohio ANG. Some have sound, some don't. It's loud up in these old planes. I always thought that if I ever re-paint my Stella it'll be in Air Force flat airplane gray and I'll dress her up like my plane.

There is absolutely nothing better for the TDY (temporary, on-the-road duty) 0-dark:30 Sunday morning hangover than climbing up into the jet and grabbing 10 minutes on 100% O2. Especially when we're TDY to Vegas.purple wrote: Occasionally, we'd take turns going to the cockpit

I just lucked out big time and got a sales job at Sportique in Boulder! So I can now kind of sort of say that I have Buddy and Stella scooters. Ok, ok, so they're technically not mine... yet. It's only a matter of time, now!
The more I get to ride the Buddys though, the more I really want one! I'm still head-over-heels about my GTV, but there is something to be said for being short and liking the little bitty Buddy as far as stability (I can actually flat-foot it). Haven't braved a Stella just yet.

I am now a marketing Creative Director. Given that the industries I've worked in previously (mostly newspapers, magazines and other media) and many past clients (record companies, auto companies, ad agencies etc.) have all imploded over the past few years, and that many of my friends are struggling to get by, I'm grateful to be anything, anywhere, at all.

I am an instructional designer mostly working for DoD contractors. We develop the instruction used by various schoolhouses across the military establishment and I have had a blast doing this for about 14 years now! I have helped teached pilots to fly and others how to sew, take pictures, use various weapons systems, and EVERYTHING you ever wanted to know about the fresh water condensing systems on Navy ships...
It still gets me out of bed every morning - oh, and I spent a career as an enlisted guy in the Air Force as well...
Great thread!

Incredibly fascinating thread! Lots of really neat jobs out there.
I work in highed education administration at the University of Oklahoma. I specifically work in Residence Life (housing.ou.edu). I am on the education side of our department. I also teach a couple of sections of freshman orientation in the fall and usually a class, during the spring, for freshman students who made below a 2.0 (rehab for bad grades). I have a lot of fun at work but it can also be high stress (responding to suicide attempts, sexual assaults, fights, hospital transports). My eventual career goal, I think, is to be the director of student housing at a much smaller school...
When I am not working, I have fun with my three dogs, partner, and spending time with my nieces and nephews.

I knew that most scooter riders were smart people, but I thought that was mostly conceit on my part. This thread proves that it's true!
Right now, I'm a real estate agent's assistant working in foreclosure real estate. It's one of the few legal ways to make money here in Vegas that doesn't have to do with hospitality or tourism.
Here in a few months, after I get to Austin, I'm plan to get back to doing something I love for a living: graphic design. Austin seems to have a wider variety of job opportunities than Vegas, and I plan to take advantage of that.

Let's see: I've picked beans, worked as a drugstore soda jerk, sprayed trees for a local DPW, worked in a retail men's wear store, worked in a college cafeteria and later in the library, served in the U.S. military, worked for an international arms import/export firm, programmed for a Univac II computer, wrote ad copy and now write for firearms publications.

I'm a Scooterist!
It doesn't pay the bills.. for that I ride every morning to a large brick building, sit behind a computer and manage prepress files and digital content (my actual title is Digital Doctor). Yes, I'm employed at one of those places where people bring their dogs in, and we have paper airplane distance flight contest, snack time on Fridays and every once in a while they close the office and we watch a movie at a nearby theater.

Big to little
Used to work in gourmet foods (restaurant and retail - making pastries, selling caviar, catering, etc- fun, and ate well, but didn't pay too much), but 5 years ago made a paradigm shift and now work for Brinks Inc - The armored transport company.
It was 2 months after starting w/ Brinks 2006 that I bought my first scoot, and would commute. After 12 hours driving a metal box, scootering was the best thing in the world.
Now I'm a cashier (not in the 'paper or plastic?' sense) and all the money, coin and 'secure logistics' that goes thru our doors and on our trucks goes thru me and 6 other guys.
Long hours, but overtime is gravy on the biscuit. And at first, the other guys clowned me for driving the scooters, until I told them the gas mileage they get.
I've been told before that I have a 'mad scientist' vibe about me, so it sorta fits. You know, buzz up on a Blackjack or Stella, and then thunder away in a 10 ton armored truck like it ain't no thing.
