Around here, you only get followed if you really, really screwed up in front of the cop, then they wait for you to screw up a 2nd time before they pull you over.
I read that thread twice and still don't understand why everyone seemed to be getting upset. It was like everyone was taking offence at everything. Just bad mojo all the way around.

I'm sorry that thread got so out of hand. Frankly, I'm shocked that none of our members reported the post. In my personal opinion, I think everyone equally shared the blame for that trainwreck of a thread. I locked it for that reason. Please note:
From our beloved Posting GuidelinesThe purpose of Modern Buddy is to inform, educate, entertain and bring us together as a community. This is a forum where scooterists of all ranges of experience, backgrounds and knowledge levels could come and discuss things without feeling intimidated or assaulted by the hostility often found elsewhere. Be civil to one another. Treat everyone with respect. Keep it friendly and remember that not everyone shares your particular viewpoint, nor should anyone be ridiculed or patronized for not believing or behaving exactly as you do.

Actually, it's more the Wyoming mentality.
We take care of each other regardless of who you are or where you are from. If you screw up, we let it slide because it may have just been a mistake. Unless you are a danger to yourself or those around you. Then they intervene.

the hardest part is to remember the last part of the quote. (i forget myself).
her feelings where not shared by anyone (almost) who posted after her but they were valid and true feeling for her none the less.
but at the same time there are plenty here who are a bit hypersensitive. and the moderators are trying to keep the masses happy. tough i would imagine.
best of luck to walky.

If you'll reread the post, you'll see that we're talking about Wyoming, not Washington. But, now that you mention it, I lost all respect for the University of Washington when we played them last year.Dooglas wrote:What? Root against the dogs!!!!! I couldn't help but snicker when all of a sudden a handful of college football teams showed up in a thread titled "Awful".

First thing that popped into my head? Zombie football team. The helmets would make it hard for a headshot.GrittyTacoman wrote:The Huskies shall rise again and smite thee! Yes, but it'd sorta make it a little safer, especially if the zombies are wearing full face helmets. It's pretty hard to bite someone through one of those.
On second though, if you find a bulletproof helmet, you let me know about it!

Okay, kick 'em while they're down. I'm with gritty tacoman, the dogs shall rise again! (I don't know anything about the "cowboys" on the other hand)laxer wrote: But, now that you mention it, I lost all respect for the University of Washington when we played them last year.
(and, hey, the dogs have played awful this year as several of you have helpfully pointed out, so - yes, this discussion fits in an "awful" thread)

I just got back from L.A. and I didn't need a cop following me to intimidate me. The city streets weren't too bad but the freeways were impossible. 20 mile long parking lots. cruiser bikes splitting lanes when I'm doing 70 and they're doing 85. little old ladies in bimmers flipping me off. Walky, I'm on your side--I'd be a basket case if a cop started paying attention to me with the REAL drivers you put up with every day. Ride your scooter and enjoy it and enjoy life. Finish the course and keep on scootin...

Not to be a jerk, but I am a bit concerned about someone that gets so upset over something as simple as a cop going in the same direction as they are for a few blocks that they are a basket case (can't take part in a class, post what seems to me to be a nearly hysterical rant about being persecuted, and are still upset about it much later).
.
Riding a scooter takes a lot of nerve. You will have everything from little kids pointing and smiling to freaks that try to run you off of what they feel is their roadway or do even worse (not to mention the idiots who just aren't paying attention, no malice intended). Then there are things that get the ol ticker thumping like bad road conditions and animals that don't know the rules of the road...
.
Dealing with all of these takes a level head and the ability to not completely loose your mind. You have to get through the situation and then keep on going and be prepared for the next thing that happens.
.
Freak outs to the point of being unable to attend a class are simply not going to work.
.
I am hoping that this person was being a drama queen or something and they were capable of functioning after their experience, but scootering is not for everyone. You have to be able to handle some pretty scary moments and keep on going. A cop following you for a few blocks...?!?
I do not mean offense, just a differing opinion. Perhaps it could have been put a bit more gently, but I have serious concerns about this individual's choice to ride a scooter.

Huh?kneil67@yahoo.com wrote:walky08 post it got pretty ugly
Looked to me like that Shakespearian thing; you know, "Much ado about nuthin'"?
And it also looks to me like you want to start it up again?
Why, for heaven's sake? Isn't there enough silliness posted there already?

kneil67, let it go. You are trying to rehash a locked thread. 42, 62 or 82 I do not care how old someone is. Someone's age does not automatically guarantee my respect in the scooter community. It is something that is earned no matter how old you are.
