Don't mind at all...

Post by Drumwoulf »

Didn't mind at all...
That sometime back I had a local town cop follow me thru a county road jus o/s of town for a bit.
They didn't know me then, and had no way of knowing whether my small scoot was legal for on-road, middle-of-the-road riding, or not?
(NJ says all specially-licensed scoots and mopeds under 50cc's must ride only on the sides of the non-street, faster roads, much like a bicycle..)
So he probably checked my plates and found that I was riding a road legal, road worthy, 125cc fully licensed, registered, inspected, and insured scoot!
And now that they know who I am, they just wave at me occasionally... :)

Checking out small vehicles riding on the faster roads is just part of their job, and IMO a fairly important one too, as it helps protect the lives and limbs of foolish kids who sometimes use their mopeds in unsafe ways..

And it's obvious what they're doing too, as I never seem to get followed and plate-checked whenever I'm riding my much larger Vespa GT200, as that clearly looks more like a road-legal motorbike....

Last week I was on the Burgman on my way home. I was riding the HOV lane solo doing about 68 in a 65 passing hundreds of cars in the other lanes.

I see the state trooper three lanes over on the right. He light them up...slows down and cuts all the way over behind me. What runs through my head?

My registration is up to date
I'm legal to be in the HOV
I'm not speeding...much
My headlight modulator is legal.

I pull over into the left breakdown lane, he nails it, passes me and pops a solo cager that had ducked out of the HOV.

Didn't mind at all...

You get the award for most clever way to revive a locked thread.
But... I agree with what you said. If you are worried about a cop behind you sell your scoot and take the bus.

I got followed (in the cage) for about 10 miles Saturday night/Sunday morning after leaving a Halloween party. Didn't bother me a bit as I had nothing to worry about. In fact, I'm glad the police were out tailing people because I know there were some folks at that party who should have been pulled over had they gotten behind the wheel. Me, I enjoyed the escort. Didn't mind at all ...

I suppose I should be upset, even feel violated, but I'm not. No, in fact, I think this is a friendly message, like "Hey, wanna play?" and yes I want to play. I really really do.

I guess there's not really a clever way to lock a thread so I get no awards but, yeah, this is just bringing up old news.

Move along, nothing to see here, folks. 8)
