BUT - Friday night I t-boned a minivan on my Stella. The driver signaled a left turnfrom the right lane and turned at the same instant. I was in the left lane. T-Bone!! The sudden stop was not fun. Funny how things slow down but your mind goes so fast. As I laid on the ground I couldn't help but think how glad that I wore all my gear. Had on my moto boots, armored gloves, armored jacket and ff helmet. All I have is road rash on one knee (again!) and a separated shoulder. Haven't seen Stella since, she was hauled off, not in bad shape, but I can't ride. Yep, gear for me.
And he had insurance.
Wow, sorry to hear about the crash but—as always—glad you're relatively okay and here to tell the tale. Is the separated shoulder dislocated or did you tear the ACL? Unfortunately, I know from a crash that shoulder injuries are pretty damn painful.

Torn ACL with knot sticking up on the shoulder. I'm a lucky guy, one winged for now, but lucky.

Yup, I had the same. It's not fun at all.

Appointment tomorrow.
Not as concerned about the money as the physical results down the road. My hip replacement as far as I can figure is the result of a head on collision 13 years ago. Hip into steering wheel after I laid down in the seat seeing it coming with no where to go. Result was really bad arthritis over time.
Now, what condition will my shoulder be in another 10 years?

For now I have a big shoulder ouchy, but this shall pass. I hope. :?

Trust me guys. If you get injured, look at the big picture. Lawyer up.

What I wear depends on what I'm doing and which scoot I'm riding. Helmet 100% of the time and gloves almost always either mesh or leather. I've got several helmets from half helmets to modular, I haven't found a full face I can wear. Which I wear depends on the weather and where I'm going.

If its summer and I'm just going over to Starbucks on the Buddy or Vespa I'll wear a 3/4 helmet with faceshield and whatever else I'm already wearing with maybe my kevelar coolmax jacket. Love it during the summer since its ligher than my mesh jacket.

If I'm on one of the bigger scoots Burgman or Aprilia (always the modular when I'm in Colorado), mesh or denium armored jacket and jeans or bike pants. Boots, usually hiking ones in the mountains. Though I tend to wear high top tennis shoes in town.

Winter typically jeans, denium jacket with leather (full leather jacket if temps are below 45) and motorcycle or thinsuate lined boots. I've got a pair of leather chaps for when its cold enough to use them.

Make sure you get a doc is a shoulder specialist, if at all possible. Shoulders are tricky joints, there is so much that depends on soft tissue for stability and function of the joint! I have a genetic connective tissue disease that was diagnosed when I was 17. When my work changed their procedures I was put into a position that involved reaching to the corner of my desk about 1000 times a day and after about 3 years of this my shoulder finally gave out. :(

My mom had both of her shoulders require surgery, she had lots of troubles with her shoulders, the repair on one shoulder was successful, not so much for the other shoulder, I believe that at least some of it was that she was just seeing a general ortho instead of a shoulder specialist.

Take it easy and once you are in rehab pay attention to what they tell you to do, you might need to do your exercises for the rest of your life to maintain your function, I do, but it is worth it. I worked my butt off in PT and after just 5 months, tomorrow is my last time! :D

For now, take the anti-inflammatory medicine and ice it to help with the pain. Once it is in good shape they will be able to start therapy and get things moving, you don't want to end up with a frozen shoulder (my dad had a skiing accident and ended up with a frozen shoulder, that is no fun either).

Take it easy and take care.
