Is cutty downy a technical term? I need to know so when I prepare for something like this in my future I will have the proper instructions!

I just want to know how it turns out. This is getting exciting!

Yep, its in the manual next to words like munge, and bodge.

On a side note, there's actually a formal style of Vespa known as a 'Cut Down'. We're not building one of those

Ok, the bike is 3/4 wired, and the fuel injection is all hooked up. We're getting close to being able to fire it up!

Yeah, its coming along a whole lot faster than I expected as well. Its been strangely easy to install, like it was almost meant to go there...

I was expecting just a ton of cutting and welding to get it in, but so far I've only cut one brace everything else just lined right up. We're not done yet, but hopefully it'll stay that easy.

Managed to pickup an eBay steal GTS exhaust for $15 today, that leaves just the right side swing arm bracket and some misc stuff to have all the parts I need!

Can’t stop thinking about your project, how is it going?

For the life of me I can’t think of where you will put the radiator(s). When I look at the Buddy, there just isn’t much room; they may need to be exterior of the body work, just not sure where. That motor you have runs two radiators, coolant reservoir and one radiator uses an electric fan.

Going well, the bike is about 90% wired now, I got my new shock and will be installing that shortly, Oopsclunkthud was awesome enough to offer to send me the right side swing arm so when I get that I can mount the exhaust which I managed to snag on eBay for $15.

The radiator issue I'm still working on. I have the oil cooler bracket from a 150, and may mount the radiator there, there is also enough space by a hair to stick it infront of the valve cover in the foot well where the stock cooling vent is.

Assuming all my parts get in and a fair bit of luck, it'll get it's first start this weekend or next.

Got some new parts in the mail, my new 12" rear wheel and tire, and some shock brackets.

Why the heck are GTS wheels so spendy?? List price is over $500 for *ONE* wheel! I snagged this one on eBay for $100 with a brand new tire.

12" 5-hole wheels? Geez, you could probably go to the junk yard and get a couple mid 70's Corolla wheels that would fit!

Should you change the front-end geometry to accomodate the higher speeds? Change the rake angle on the neck and extend the legs a little.

I don't get any real wobble or shake at 88MPH already, so I don't expect that I will at a bit faster than that.

And if I rake the front, I'll be altering the Buddy's fantastic handling abilities, which I don't want to do. Thats the same reason I'm not sticking a fatty on the bike. While I think it can LOOK pretty cool, I want to continue being able to out-corner everything else on the road.

Got the weel on and mounted today, I had to cut down the rear fender as the wheel sits a bit farther back than stock.

I've got basically all the wiring done on the bike, I just need to make it a bit prettier, but that'll happen after I fire it.

I've got the exhaust now, just waiting on the awesomeness from Oopsclunkthud to get here.

New shock is a nearly perfect fit, I have to shim it at the top just slightly to keep it from moving laterally, but I was able to use both the stock Buddy mount spot at the top, and the stock GTS brackets for the bottom.

It sits super nice, actually just slightly lower than stock, and feels like the single shock is going to be just about right. Its a bit stiffer than the stock Buddy shock but its adjustable so I've got room to play with it.

Goofy question: When you replace the engine and increase its size so much, do you then have to re-register the bike with the DMV and change your insurance and all that legal type stuff to keep it road legal?

In Oregon at least that all goes by the vin. So as far as they care, its still a buddy 125

Yeah, its stance is AWESOME. The pictures just don't do it justice. Once I get it all together, I'm going to get out there with my DSLR and take some REAL pics of it, not the cameraphone shots I'm doing now

It'll also help when it's got body panels on it

The fuel pump for the GTS is in side the fuel tank and is needed to maintain the correct injector pressure. Do you have/need one or have you found an aftermarket pump for the job?

Is That where it is?? I've been trying to figure that out.

I don't have one yet, or a solution to that issue yet.

There are several aftermarket pumps out there, or I may try and adapt the gts pump if I can find one for a decent price.

I've got my new coil now, and the radiator, and fuel pump are on their way. I got the swingarm bracket from Oopsclunkthud too... Wonder if I'll get far enough to start it this weekend

NICE! im in love! that thing looks soooo mean! what tire is on there? id like to run a bigger fatter tire on the rear of my scooter but the biggest i can go on this shortcase 10" rim is 130-70-10

Its a Sava MC20 130/70/12.
I'm really itching to see how it changes the handling characteristics of the bike with the 12" rear wheel on it.

So today was exhaust and ziptie day, I spent a lot of it ziptieing down wires now that I know where they're going to live. I also got the bracket from Oopsclunkthud installed and started to install the exhaust, only to discover that I needed to trim a crossmember a bit to make the O2 sensor fit. I got it about 1/2 way trimmed before running outa time, but I test-fitted the main part of the exhaust(GTS exhausts are slip-on) to be sure it cleared the frame. Everything clears perfectly!

It would depend on if it would fit the case. Obviously there's room. In the frame

I think it's doable with the right tire so long as your willing to remove all the equipment thats there to keep you dry and clean
