The only "famous" "landmark" I rode past today was Reeds Lake, on my way to lunch with a friend. But it was on my bike, because the scooter is in the shop for service and brake work. This is in prep for my Lake Huron ride next week, when I'll be passing a few actual famous landmarks (e.g. Mackinac and Blue Water Bridges).

this thread is pretty useless without pics. next time, stop, snap a photo of your buddy in front of said landmark, and post it.

The most famous place I drove by today was the house were me and my first wife used to live. I guess that would be infamous, wouldn't it?

I get to ride by monuments every day living in DC but it's surprisingly hard to get photos in front of them. I finally got some night shots for my blog in front of the Capitol and the Washington monument tonight though.

took Jules bike to Modern Classics for her to get it serviced, passed a few interesting spots I usually do, so snapped the photo today. And the Palm Pre is a decent phone, but the picture quality sucks.

My daily commute takes me along the route used by the British during their retreat to New York after the battle of Monmouth in 1778. Due to the congestion that is so much a part of commuting in NJ, one still occasionally witnesses the odd redcoat trying to thumb a ride.

so now I know who to look up as a tour guide for when we move to SD.
As far as us, we will ride by the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame on the way to the gym later. I look at the temps every day in SD and am drooling, I would love a week of upper 60's and low 70's, compared to the 106 heat index days we have been getting.

OH! you're the yellow vespa that may move to San Diego!! I like destination rides and was bummed to miss the creationism museum yesterday. Apparently unruly children are fed to alligators and dinosaurs there!

In the late fall, when the desert cools off I'm gonna lead at least one if not two overnighters. Ocean, mountains, and desert all in a day. One to Pioneer Town and one around the Salton Sea to Salvation Mountain.

It's lovely riding out here. You'll love it!

That's why I'm trying to get to SoCal very soon here as well. SDFD isn't hiring anytime soon, but I'm trying for several in the Los Angeles area.

have you ever seen the house from "A Christmas Story"? I had read it is a small museum to the movie and in Cleveland as well.

yup San Diego is a go, but since this ended up happening fast, I have to take care of some business here (renting condo, helping train my replacement at work so my co workers are not stuck with it).
My spouse will be out in less than a month and hopefully 2 scooters around the same time. So I will have a scooter to ride when I am out there until late November when I am there permanently. Given the economy, unemployment will sadly be in my cards so I will have some time on my hands to explore (which is not sad!)

As far as the Christmas Story House, it is about a 1.5 miles from my house, and I was by it all the time b/c I used to have client that lived catty corner from it. I have never been in though (shame on me). It also showed up in scooter tag a few times.

I came here from Chicago 5 years ago. It's weird getting used to no snow but totally welcome on my part. I go to Target to learn the season "oh, back to school" or "Oh, it's halloween" "Lookey there, christmas!" because the weather doesn't really change. :)

took a ride up north a little bit to the Mormon Temple. It looks really cool all lit up at night, but this was for a scooter tag photo.
