Modern Buddy Calendar - submit your photos!

Post by ScootLemont »

We are doing a MB Calendar!
& we need a photo of your scooter!

Here is the deal:
Zazzle allows you to create a calendar using your photos - after it is created, you can post it for sale & anyone who wants to buy one can (that way no one is buying inventory & trying to mail them out - zazzle just sends them directly to anyone who buys one)
http://www.zazzle.com/custom/calendars
The are $20 (not cheap, but I would pay that for a MB calendar!)

So we need photos of your scooter
Just post up any photos you want to be considered IN THIS THREAD by May 31st.
but dont post the hi-res versions here - we will collect the hi-res versions for the actual calendar after they have been voted on
The first week of June, everyone will vote & the most popular 14 photos (12 months + front & back covers) will be used in the calendar.
Once the photos are chosen, the calendar will be built on Zazzle & anyone who wants one, will be able to visit Zazzle & purchase one.

What should your photos look like?
What ever you want (but should have a scooter in the pic)

Should you be in the photo?
If you want - totally up to you!

Do they have to be new pics?
Up to you, take a new one but if you have an older photo, feel free to submit it.

Should they have something to do with a month or season?
Thats up to you - want to get a photo of your scooter with flags & fireworks for July? Great - but the photos are NOT required to be tied to a month / season or holiday.

Is it only for buddies?
No! ALL makes & models are welcome as long as the pics are submitted by a Modern Buddy member

When should you start posting photos?
any time now... you have until May 31st to go get some great photos

What size & shape should your photos be?
Zazzle says 2850 wide x 2200 tall as a minimum resolution (but again, dont post the full resolution photos in this thread - just as long as you have them when your photos are chosen)
Also... your pics need to be wider than they are tall - we are looking for landscape not portrait photos because that is the shape of the calendar.
We can crop the pics down for you, but they should be wider than they are tall.

Great idea. Are there any suggestions for image size, or type?

Damn, I wanted to offer one of the Hunt pics (scooter by the pool, with fishing pole, etc), but I resized it for the Hunt and can't find the original.

Do we need to "upload" the image here, or can we use the IMG linking option?

Howard
You can link it
& you dont have to link to the full resolution version here
we can get the full resolution versions from everyone after the final 14 are chosen

Hopefully I'll have the new Green 170 by the end of May! If so, I'll try to post something.

I'm loving the idea of a scooter calendar. I'll definitely be interested in buying one when the time comes, whether or not my scooter is in it.

Here's my entry:

Don't post your high res pics here, though. As long as you have them, that's good!

There are a lot of great shots in our Flickr pool, most from MB members but many of whom aren't frequent posters. A few of these images are stunning, some really fun.

http://www.flickr.com/groups/modernbuddy/

Anyone object to me asking a few people to submit their pics? I posted to the Discussion, but no one reads that. I don't!

I'm pretty bad about taking glamour shots of Flash when we're "on location", but this is one I'm fond of, as the woodlands, the never-ending road, the speed limit sign, and the gear-packed rack sum up so much of my experience of scooting around Michigan.

I can tell already that its going to be hard to get this down to 14 pics

and for the non-photographically experienced - dont be intimidated by any of the great shots that are already up - we want to see photos from EVERYONE who wants to share!

It would be a better photo if you could either adjust the camera to make the picture darker, or (if the camera doesn't give you that option) use a lighter background so that it doesn't try to compensate for the black pavement by making the colors on the scooter so light.

Also... your pics need to be wider than they are tall - we are looking for landscape not portrait photos because that is the shape of the calendar.
We can crop the pics down for you (to the specific size needed), but they should be wider than they are tall.

The TBOBs are nice of course. And the view is great, but there are so many photos in the world of "breathtaking views" that a photo needs something special to stand out. Seeing his face in the mirror does it here.
