Scooters Go Green of Boston

Post by SteveK »

Over this holiday weekend we suffered the unfortunate breakdown of one of our new scooters. This gave us the opportunity to test out the built-in failsafes of the Genuine line-up, the roadside assistance and the dealer network. More specifically Scooters Go Green of Boston.

Our little Buddy stalled and was putting up a fuss. I found myself pushing it back home as we weren't too far from it. My wife rode the Roughhouse back home to dial RA just in case. Along the way the little Buddy and I had a chat about how it was time for it to grow-up and start earning it's place in this world. To be a productive little Buddy, a Buddy we could be proud of. The best Buddy that it could be.

Suddenly, it popped back to life! The head lamp a little stronger, the exhaust a little meaner and don't even get me started about the breaking... 8). But in the end this little Buddy was trying it's best to please and was still sick inside....sadly it tired at my doorstep and went into coma.

THANK YOU LITTLE BUDDY!!! You gave it your all for me....

Enter Scooters Go Green:

Sunday we called Scooters Go Green (open Sunday on a holiday weekend mind you). Initially I had asked Steve there if I could have a tiny poke around inside. You know, see if there was anything blatently obvious like fuel in the evap cannister and such. He reccomended we bring it in instead as it was still under warranty. We are pretty far away from there and this was a holiday weekend. They couldn't touch it till Tuesday. So he said to take a quick look at what was simple but don't go nuts. I did that and found nothing obvious so back we went on Tuesday (today) after calling ahead to let them know we were coming.

If we were there for 15 minutes I would be very surprised. We were in and out just that fast. The ride one-way was 30 minutes longer. We were greeted by Steve and Steve and had to explain nothing. Never got a sense of frustration from them, never an odd look. Just pure professionalism. The kind of service often spoken of by old timers that constantly profess "they don't make 'em like they used to"...

How was the experience? Well, it was "all that and a bag o' chips".

These guys are serious about what they do. They are not some fly-by-night stealer organization pimping inferior product and services. The real deal so to speak. I will strive to be more like them in my business.

Go Green or Go Home is our new mantra when asked where to buy scoots...'nuff said....

Totally agree with you, Steve and Steve along with Mike are very professional. Had an issue with my new BJ and they took care of it promptly and with a smile on their faces. Very well run business and even nicer guys.

janagler, I assume Mike is the on-staff mechanic. I met him there a few weeks ago and he was just filled with good tech info. I didn't catch his name at the time. Today he was busily helping some DIY'ers that were there with a fist full of parts (that did not appear to be Genuine's) and Mike was going back and forth busily trying to source these for them. The whole bucket probably cost these DIY'ers twenty thirty bux in the end. Shows the commitment to the sport...

Barton was the sales guy we dealt with. Great people. He was down to earth, super knowledgeable and patient. An experienced all seasons rider. Never once tried the Sales BS Kung-Fu on us. Aces all of them IMO.

I've heard told a rumor from _ _ _ _ that Barton was "Roughousing" the large snow piles in the parking lot this winter with his personal RH50...shhh don't tell the Steve's!! My son enjoyed that story immensely.... 8)

+1 Big fan of Scooters Go Green. Great guys and still the only pleasant vehicle buying experience I've ever had. Wish all dealerships operated like they do.

Sounds like they're the second-best scooter shop in the universe.

Might I also suggest Smooth Scooters in Medford. Frank is great and has given me lots of advice.

I bought my buddy from Scooters Go Green but when I took it in for its first oil change, they overfilled it by twice the supposed amount. I always wondered why the gearbox was leaking and I didn't notice the error until I changed the gear oil a second time myself.

These guys run a formidable shop and I've had only great service and friendly interactions with them.

I got my scoot in 2008 from the now-closed Javaspeed in Providence and am so happy Steve and Steve took over the Genuine brand in a spot so close to me.

Will be buying my next scoot from them and now get all my service done there.
