Unmarked cruiser rear ends scooter at speed. Must see Video!

Post by SteveK »

Is there a more perfect way to land if you are rear ended on a highway? Scooter fault....maybe, no directionals....but the police did rear end him.

It's situations like this where some extra power would be nice, get the bigger engine

Well I was able to compute forces exerted upon impact using my own variation of E=MC2, the energy imparted upon the protective gear (a.k.a. flip-flops), this combined with the rider braking in the passing lane, and have come to the solution that the rider was a complete idiot to begin with.....

Is the exception to the laws of Social Darwinism at work?... :?

Well, that sucks. Sure glad the guy was OK for the most part. He's def an idiot, though.

Dang, that cruiser's motor sounds sweet! Sounds like a manual transmission, too. Thought that was odd.

Yeah this one was posted on here several months back. The difference is that post, for what ever reason, did not have audio on it.

I have to wonder though if that is really a cruiser. Parts of the audio sure sound like it might be. On the other hand tow truck drivers also have 2-way radios on in their vehicles that they listen to as they are driving for dispatch, and a manual transmission might be more like what they would have.

Anyhow, during the last post, someone brought up that the scooter rider hardly looked at all before getting over, THEN finally looked behind him.

If he'd just changed lanes, there was plenty of room and plenty of time for the car to apply brakes as necessary. I absolutely cannot figure out, if I'm seeing correctly, why the scoot brakes after changing lanes.

I have a hard time faulting the driver for rear-ending a scooter that pulls out right in front of him.

I just can't believe the guy was on the highway with just short, t-shirt, and flip-flops... well, at least he had a helmet.

Our state legislature has deemed this important enough to pass legislation about: eliminating the requirement to wear a helmet. I respect that there are valid arguments on both sides... but I'm not sure it's something that needs immediate attention in the current context.

I dont know.. The police need to use that siren if they are going to speed way past traffic speed. This is exactly what almost happened to me on I40. I was doing 75 and in the process of passing a slower tractor trailer when a CHP cruiser brakes traffic speed in the same lane Im in 6 cars back. So after I look and see the fast lane is clear, the officer floors it into the fast lane barreling down on me doing 120 at least. I always recheck my mirrors and had to do an emergency slide (dirt bike skills) and bring it back into the slow lane, the cruiser missing me by inches never stopped. Those guys spend way too much time alone driving about 8 hours a day or 500 miles 6 days a week Alone with no one to talk to on the same rout!

Oh how much I want to rant about my insurance rates due to fees that go to the 'catastrophic accident fund' or whatever it is.

Seriously. The scooterist looks back and jams on the brakes. WHAT?
