Trying to drain fuel tank - Buddy 125

Post by itpphoto »

Hello all,

I have a seldom ridden Buddy 125 that I have taken the carb out of to clean the jets ( actually I'm replacing them, they were really bad ) and while I'm at it I went to drain the fuel tank by putting a hose on the fuel line just before the fuel filter and it will not drain. If I put a little air pressure on the tank (don't ask) it will not push the fuel out.
It seems like there must be a check valve or something on the bottom og the tank.

Any ideas ???

Thanks,
Frank

I don't have itnin front of me, but there's a valve under the tank that's operated by vacuum from the carb. There's a hose running from the carb to this valve. If you pull it off the carb and pull a little vacuum by mouth, it should open.

Don't suck on the fuel line. It tastes funny.

Awesome ! - Thanks for the help,

Frank

Just a quick PS for anyone having carb problems, the gasket on the bowl was pinched in two spots - this must have been from the factory and for sure caused a small leak at one of the spots.

Thanks again

IT'S ALIVE !

Just got it running, seems to be OK. I will put everything back together and take it for a spin after dinner.

I did have one really thin hose, about a foot long with a tiny clamp on one end left over. I can't figure out where it goes, if anyone has an idea.

Thanks again,

Frank

Is the end cut at an angle? If so, it doesn't go anywhere. Just let it hang out kind of near the front of your cvt cover.

Post a pic.

Yeah, if it's the carb-bowl drain hose, it hangs down out the bottom of the scoot and the other end connects to the drain valve at the bottom of the carb bowl.
