Windshield issues

Just put my windshield on my 08 buddy 125 and noticed that during the ride the wind pressure is causing the shield to shift and moving my grips and thus the mirrors. Is there an adjustment screw that I can tighten to prevent this?
PS I am a newbie scooter rider and actually like my buddy more than I did my Ninja.

Which windshield do you have?

Thanks for the quick reply! It is a Puig screen that attaches via a bracket between the mirror stem and the grip area. But the issue isn't just the mirrors but the entire grip assembly moves. Brake levers and all.

Brake levers moving? Hm! Can you tike a couple pics of the mount and your handlebars?

The Puig site doesn't list a screen for the Buddy (or PGO Ligero/Metro/BuBu as its known elsewhere) but there is a universal screen. From the pics on their site and catalog, I can't really see how it's mounted but it does look different from the two screens made specifically for the Buddy.

That's pretty much how the Buddy windshields attach. It surprising that the handgrips are being moved since the switch/brake assembly is clamped onto the handlebar pretty tightly. Maybe check that the securing bolts haven't loosened up.

What Puig windscren do you have on? I was interested in trying out the 970.

I am not sure which model screen I have since it came with the scoot.
I figured that there was a bolt or allen screw that I needed to tighten but I am not sure where it is or how to get to it. I noticed that the newer screens have a couple of butresses that mine doesn't have.

There's a pin that's cast into the switch module (or whatever it's called, It's the black part that all of the controls anchor to.)

That pin indexes into a hole in the handlebar to keep things from spinning on the bar, sometimes those pins shear off accidently.

I was able to fix one by removing the switch module and wraping a thin layer of grippy tape around the bar and then tightening the assembly down real tight.

The switch module is held on by two dark phillips screws that are accessed from the front of the bike.

I'd recommend checking the left side first (it's easier because you don't have the throttle to deal with on that side) and remember which screw came from the top and bottom holes, they're different legnths.

Thanks so much! I think that will fix the problem.

I am not a big fan of the aesthetics of the screen but it does cut down on noise and oddly seems to make the scooter go faster with less throttle.

It's super easy to post from Flickr.

Go to the image page. At the top, click the Share link. Click the option for HTML/BBCode under Share. Select BBCode and the image size. Copy the code and paste it right into ModernBuddy!

I can't post your earlier images because you must have the owner setting set not to allow sharing but you should be able to.

Well I found that the pin in the mirror/blinker switch assembly was sheared off. Wow, that is some seriously cheap metal. Almost as bad as the metal bracket assembly for the windscreen itself. That little Z shaped piece failed while on my way to school. I guess it is over to the sculpture studio to make a better mounting bracket out of real steal!

Oh, I took off the blinker assembly and wrapped some electrical tape around the bar and put the assembly back on. This seemed to work pretty well. Thanks for all of the input!
