I wonder if this would work for faded panels on Buddys?

I don't have any faded panels, but I saw this video and that's the first thing that popped in to my head.

Pretty neat though.

Yeah and it leaves your headlights minty fresh and cavity free!

(I don't think this would work on body panels though, too abrasive IMO)

The mild abrasiveness of toothpaste wins again!

I don't think the abrasiveness is the biggest problem, the problem is that the parts I've seen fade are the textured ones. The toothpaste will just get stuck in the ridges.

...textured ones
McGuire's 'Back to Black' for that, one of the few products that has actually won me over.

We kept a tube of Crest under the bench in the tobacconists where I worked one summer. Pretty handy for cleaning up and polishing mouth stems on briar pipes.

Don't know if I'd want to do that on my Buddy though.....

One of the best ways to revive faded black plastics is to use a heat gun for a *very* brief time over the affected area. This actually re-melts the surface of the black plastic allowing the sun-bleached area to fade away. Treat with your preferred petro-chemical plastic preserve/restorer and maintain, and you can keep your plastics looking new!

You can find heat guns at any Harbor Freight or Home Depot. They are usually used to remove wall paper and paint, but there's plenty of video out there on how to use this to refresh oxidized plastics.

"I will not buy this tobacconist, it is scratched."

Ah well. Maybe just good for the headlights they show it working on.

It got some good conversation going though! :)
