Sam's Club has a rim? This one is a Douglas 10 x 5 atv rim I picked up off of Ebay.

Hello BuddyLand:

Do I understand correctly.......
that a tire size 130/70-10 fits on the rear of the Buddy 125? If yes, must the plastic fender be removed? Does using this tire on the rear increase top end speed?

Thanks

Hello KooKooKeeDoo:

What kind of modding did you do to get your 120/90 10 to fit the Buddy 125 motor?

Thanks

Yes. 130/70 fits absolutely no problem. Did mine in April.
No modifications needed.
Nothing scrapes.
Nothing needs to be removed except the grin on your face after riding with the new tire size.
Cornering is so, so very sweet.

Hello Tocsik:

You shared that you put on a tire size 130/70 10 on the rear. The tire is so wide compared to the stock tire. Did you have to remove the stock muffler bracket to get this tire on?

Thanks

I belive you have to take that bracket off regardless of tire size.

Hello BuddyLand:

Thanks for your response EasY.

I understand that exhaust support bracket with the four bolts needs to be removed to replace any rear tire on a Buddy. But what I meant is that for tire size 130/70 10, I do not see a way this size tire could fit on the scooter with the exhaust support bracket put back on.

I even have a tire size 130/70 10 and already tried it.

So what did Tocsik do, to get this size tire on his Buddy with no modification?
Or was this person misunderstanding and giving out mistaken information? I cut and pasted his recent post on the matter below the asterisked line.

Mine fit back on I'm using mich s1. Different tire manufactures might be slightly different dimension. With stock exhaust/NYC exhaust you have too barely start all the bolts and nuts and work them tight a little at a time

Hey, just catching up on some computer time. It's been nothing but yard work for several weeks when I get home from regular work.

Like MYSCTR, I put a 130/70 tire on the stock rear wheel. He used a Weatherman and I am running a Michelin S1.
Neither of us had to make any modifications whatsoever to get this tire to fit.
He provided some great education to me in a PM on how the numbers work on tires and I'll share that with the group:
(Edited/paraphrased)
Remember the first number represents the width and the second number is the percentage of the first number that tells you the height.

To keep from making any mods to your scoot - try to keep close to factory height.

100/90 = 90.00 Factory
110/80 = 88.00 Smidge smaller
130/70 = 91.00 Slightly larger yet even rounded up due to the width of the rim - works great

120/70 = 84.00 Too short
120/80 = 96.00 Too Tall
120/90 = 108.00 WAY TOO TALL ! ! ! !

Hello BuddyLand:Tocsik:Easy

Well.......at least 2 people claim the 130/70 10 fits the Buddy with no modifications. I may just have to mount it on my tire rim and try it.

I am also researching where to get tire size 110/90 10.
Bridgestone, Cheng Shin, Kenda, IRC are 4 brands I found with this size.
I am waiting for Bridgestone to call me back on where I can get one.
Comparing with tire size 3.5 X 10, this would be like a 3.86 X 10.

There is also a 4.00 X 10 that is close to a 130/90 10, but the 130/90 10 is too big, and I am not sure 4.00 x 10 is to big.

So what's the biggest front tire that'll work mod-free with the 130/70 and what might one have to do to go bigger?

Motorcycle Superstore is one of the best places to get tires. The MC forum I'm on feels the same way.
Their prices are very good and shipping is often free.

Many MC shops order from them so their supply is fresh. You won't get a tire with an old manufacture date on it.

They have Kenda, Continental, Shinko, Michelin and Metzler in 130/70 10.
The Michelin has been an exceptional tire for me and it's only $43. Quite a bargain. Seriously, the tire fits with absolutely no modification needed. No rubbing or anything even close to concerning. There is no difference in the frame or body on the 125 vs. the 150 Buddy.
The Metzler is $48 and they are currently out of the Continental in this size.

Let us know what you end up going with and report back on how freakin' awesome the cornering gets on your scooter!

For the people who are running a 130/70 - What are you running for tire pressure? What is the lowest pressure you can run? How many miles are they lasting, or how many miles do you have on your's?

I got 4740 out of my last rear 130/70 Michelin S1.
I run 'em about 30 psi. Much better performance keepin' 'em aired-up vs runnin' soft. They last longer aired-up, too.
Mine last a little longer in the colder the months than Summer. Longer in miles, not time.

I've put ~3K miles on a 130/70-10 rear Conti Zippy and have found that the scoot' wants to "stand up" when in corners and encounters a bump. I think this is because the wider contact patch is leveraging the scoot' upright due to the offset from the center of the tire. I've also found that as the tire wears a "flat" in the center that the profile has a decided "knee" shape that creates a small contact patch and makes some pretty exciting moments when leaned over and loaded. It slides.
I've also found that it takes more effort to instigate turn in of corners. I think this is because the profile of the tire is flatter than the original and one must force the scoot' over to where the tire profile drops on the side of the tread.
I'm going to return to the OEM size (3.50-10) to regain the original handling which very neutral when leaned over. I recall that there was no "standing up" over bumps and the scoot' fell over quickly into lean angles with very little effort. YMMV

I just got done with the break-in run of my Heidenau 100/90-10’s.
Spectacular cornering!
Spectacular tires.

The 100/90-10’s are slightly bigger than the stock 3.50-10’s.
I recommend that you consider these, and the slightly larger 100/90-10 size, when you next change tires.

I’ll post some pics once I get to a desktop.

I'm just slightly confused. Yes, English to metric conversions that is true, 100/90-10 is just the tiniest bit bigger, I was once informed there's really no difference. Saying that, my Buddy 150 came stock with the 100/90-10 not the 3.50-10 size...
