monamibuddy?
Did you participate in the gentlemans ride this last Sunday, September 30th?

Obviously off topic but you and your Buddy in your sig look familiar.
I was waiting at Halika Hiki in River Grove to see how many folks participated and a man on a black Buddy rolled in with truck horns powered by a rather large tank of propellant strapped to his machine.

Gave a loud demonstration too.

Just wonderin,

Rob

PS, I was at the corner on a light blue Stella.

PPS, To those wondering, this was some kind of spoof ride that involved all men riders to wear suits and ties, ladies in fashionable dresses and hats.....some kind of worldwide event I had little info to go by.

I guess I now have a official Buddy sighting ha ha.

I'll keep better eye out for members.

Like the idea, a lot.....but I gotta somehow motivate myself to cruise a bit at 49 degrees.

Ahhhh, you California folks.....rubbing in that nice weather.

Yep, I'm jealous of your weather.

Rob

PS,

For whatever it's worth, I am heading up into Wisconsin for Scootoberfest regardless of temperature tomorrow morning.
Gotta keep adding those miles and mix a bit of a party in.

I'm just over 5k since delivery this April.

I'll pretend it's 80 degrees.......yeah, right!

For what it's worth, part of the reason I have as many miles as I do, is because my Buddy was my daily commuter for 2 years.
When it got that cold, my Frogg Toggs doubled as a superb wind blocker.
It was the final item of clothing that I donned on the worked when needed.

Layers are the key, and avoid clothes that wind passes right through.
...I thought fleece would have been an excellent choice, until i tried it.
FAIL!

So far my windbreaker has been a Helly Hansen rain bib. Not stylish but effective.

I believe it, and based on my experience so far, you have at least 2800 miles of smiles still ahead. :)

Congrats! It'll be a while before I get there.

I figured out that I have over 18K on 6 various scooters, since 2009 (I traded a bit to try different scooters, including a Yamaha Majesty, a MP3 250, then a MP3 500), but my original Buddy just turned 6,200 recently.

Do you recommend any certain maintenance, other than oil changes and the periodic maintenance in the (ahem) "owner's manual"?

No. Like you said, I keep up on the oil changes, I listen to it, I make sure it feels and smells right.
OK, so the smell comment might seem odd, but once you know your scoot, if any one of these changes, and it's likely to mean something. So don't ignore them.
Other than that, ride it like you stole it.

It doesn't seem odd at all, given the topic. :)

Every 1000 miles I sit down with mine and give him a pep talk: telling him how strong and handsome he is, how other scooters look up to him, and how important he is to me. Seems to help.

Mazel Tov.....

For a while this summer I was putting 200-300 miles a week on my scoot, reading this thread I had to go to the garage to look. It's sitting with just over 16000 miles on it now. Just like you all, or most, of those miles were smiles. :D

Ride on
Ride happy
Ride safe
