Sixth Annual Spendathon!

Post by BuddyRaton »

Yes...I'm late...again.butas I have been reminded this is an annual event!

Welcome to the Modern Buddy Sixth Annual SPEND-A-THON

Honestly...I can't believe that this is the sixth time I'm doing this already!

The economy is a bit better!! We have been behaving ourselves...not buying unnecessary farkles...well the time for that ends now!!

Hit the ATM...fire up paypal..replace all that worn gear! You DESERVE a new helmet....heck...you Deserve a new scooter!

The spend-a-thon will run from Thanksgiving to midnight New Year's Eve .

Please wander over to this thread every time you spend money on scooter gear. ANY scooter gear for ANY scooter!

Thats globally. All brands, A to Z including books, gear, oil, GPS and especially SCOOTERS!!!

Please post your spending in USD to make it easy.
( Do your own currency conversions easily at http://www.xe.com )
There's no need to mention much except the total $$ involved and the date I guess. But you are more than welcome to post a list!.

I will update the total every couple of days! Lets see just how much we can spend! Yes yes...of course cash counts too!

Got a gift under the tree or menorah or for Festivus (for the rest of us!) give it your best honest estimate!

For the first Spend-A-Thon out total was $14,354
viewtopic.php?t=2792&highlight=spendathon

Two years ago ended at $27,644.85!!!!!!!
viewtopic.php?t=9143&postdays=0&postord ... &start=0we

The third annual SPEND-A-THON total was
$30,097!
viewtopic.php?t=13726&postdays=0&postor ... d&start=50

Last year people really controlled their spending....STOP THAT!

The fourth annual spend-a-thon total was
$12,976

Last year we hit
$11,954.58! Not bad...but we can spend more!

viewtopic.php?t=17218&postdays=0&postor ... n&start=50

As with last year, winners will be selected (or not) for whatever categories I make up!

LET THE SIXTH ANNUAL SPEND-A-THON BEGIN!!!!

There have been a couple of posts in another thread that I will re post here so we can have everything in one thread!

easy wrote:Usually there's a spend-thon tread started my now. I'm not doing nothing scooter related this Christmas. I spent $31 for prima white wall yesterday at Scooter Works cyber sale.
az_slynch wrote:I dropped $140 at Cheap Cycle Parts to gather pieces to finish two Elite Es motors that are lying around in the garage. At least one of them will get done shortly.

Then, I dropped $160 at Treats to get a few new pistons and assorted odds 'n ends so I can rebuild a couple of the Puch E50 motors that are in tubs under my workbench. Maybe I can make space under the bench for the one E50 still living in my trunk then.

To round out the web shopping, I bought a Dell'orto PBHG 20 from Dellorto Direct (nee 1977 Mopeds) for a friend's 4T Stella for $97 shipped. Can get the carb plus a manifold adapter ($19, but I had earned free-item credit) from Treats for under $130 shipped and it'll probably work as well as the Pinasco-branded carb upgrade that other vendors are selling for almost double that.

Now that I've typed that out, I'm a bit queasy from rampant spending. :P

EDIT: 300 posts on MB, 700 miles on the Yager. You can see where my time's going. ;)

I just ordered a Shoei RF1100 helmet for the wife for Christmas.

$416.69

Rob

A P.S. *Edit* - It might sound a bit unromantic, but it's what she wanted.

It's a bit of a dead month for gigs so my spending is going to be more focused on my wife's Christmas gift. Although, there is quite a few things on my Amazon wish list for gear to suit up the Agility for it's upcoming Amerivespa-Via-Mexico trip this summer. We shall see if it's a successful holiday for the scoot.

Tack on $54.50 for a new heavy-duty cover for the Yager and $57.00 even for two sets of EBC HH grade front brake pads for the Yager. Do services count? I just had the 600-mile done Friday (600.3 miles on the odometer). :P

Well, this may not count, because it was just before Thanksgiving, but I dropped $3,100 buying my first scooter, a Buddy 125, Helmet, and lock. After I get the $300 gift card from Scooterworks, I'll supplement with other goodies. :)

I love this thread because I can live vicariously through all these purchases!

I don't think I'll be doing any scooter related purchasing this season because I just bought my son a PW80 dirt bike for Christmas (he got it early) and have been loving teaching him to work on it and tweak it out!!

So keep that buying going, everybody!!

Just ordered the Cabelas heated vest, $149.99, and the car charger, $20, as scooter riding gear for the wife. I used an online code to save $20 for purchases over $150, so that would bring the total bill to $149.99.

Hey all. I've been away for some time, but hoping to get back in the the swing of things again here on MB.

Just bought two 3W LED bulbs ($28.89) to replace my current standard blub deadlights. Looking forward to hooking them up and getting in a few more rides before Tang is put away for the season.

At what point does a hobby become an addiction? I'm uncertain, but after the twelfth scooter, it sorta feels like the latter...

Seriously...I've lost count...

So you're gonna need to add $78 to the total. I had a local sign shop make a vinyl racing stripe to add to my Stella so she would match my helmet

skipper20 wrote:(snip)I just took delivery of a new Buddy 170i from MotoCity of Avondale and all I can say is "Fantastic". It really is a nice scoot. They were having a close-out sale and the offer they made me was just too good to pass up. It's the Italia olive green color. (snip) Anyway, I'm very happy with my new purchase and I'm glad I can be a part of this forum. Happy Trails and Seasons Greetings, Bill :)
