Reading map while riding

Motorcycle riders often place their paper map under the clear cover in their tank bag.
Maps on phones can be tough to read in the sun.
I dug out my old knee board from my USMC days.
The knee board straps to your thigh and has clamps to secure your map.
I want to give it a try. Mine has two clamps to hold the map; one at each end.
The one pictured has only one clamp.

I print out my turn-by-turn using big type. I set wide margins so when folded, it's about 5" wide. When I put them together for group rides, I add icons for turns and such (see attached PDF).

If it's a short ride, I'll just write it with Sharpie.

Then I tape it (using painter's tape or masking tape) to either the inside of my windshield or to the top of the Stella glovebox.

I also love binder clips so use those on the windshield sometimes and tape the bottom. Works great for longer routes, so I can turn the page over.

Other Stella benefit is that I can use a magnetic bulldog clip. Works great!

That's just one more reason that 'Steel is Real'.
-Taping the map to the windshield sounds good. It's so hot here in the summer that the windshield would have to come off from May-Oct..

I've taped directions to the inside of the windshield, tried 'post-it' note paper but they'll flutter and I've lost them (wasn't thinking)
Though seriously 'geek like', in my opinion, I like the knee board. (I am a bit of a geek at heart)

I haven't tried it yet, but thought of getting on of those things that quarterbacks put on the forearms that list different plays. Has anyone tried those?

I have used the paper, taped to the inside of the widscreen for a long time, as well. Works great.
