my new bike :)

Post by BootScootin'FireFighter »

The Buddy has been good to me for the past 5 years. I've finally accepted, however, that it will not able to live up to the demands I place on it for 300+ mile days at WOT and sometimes several days in a row. I continue to blow up Buddy components and find myself stranded without a functioning bike. So I'm going to fix both of them up and get them ready to sell. It was great to learn from everyone over the past 5 years, and I will still check in often and still post on the forum, but I'm officially moving up to the world of motorcycles.

I was able to get a steal on a 2012 Suzuki TU 250. This is the same bike many of you probably first took the MSF course on, the twin to the Honda Rebel. It's got fuel injection, gets nearly 85 MPG, is comfortable, and capable of doing runs on the interstate when I need to get out of the city. I can pack a lot more for multi-day trips, and ride with a passenger around town. Anyway, I'm very happy as this is my first step towards my dream bike, a BMW F800 GS, but a much friendlier price tag.

Now for a name... "Suz" or "Tuti"?

The TU 250 has classic looks like a Yami XS-400 if memory serves. Nice choice.

I lived near Alexandria a few decades ago when I was in the Marines. I'd love to do an Alexandria pub crawl.

I don't post for a few months and look what happens! The end of the world must be near! I can't believe you even contemplated this!

Just teasing. :D

Best wishes, enjoy your new ride, and ride safe!

W00T! Congrats!

I wish they sold the TU250 in California. Way cooler than a Rebel!

I have been looking at the TU250 since last spring!
REALLY like that bike.

There is a NEW 2012 model 110 miles away from me at a dealership & they have it listed for $3,250
Every weekend it takes all my willpower not to hop in the pickup and bring it home.

Enjoy it!

That looks like a beautiful MC! 250-300 is about as large as I'd prefer to go but I haven't shopped anything yet. Enjoy and God bless!

Those are tough bikes!

I don't plan to sell my scoots (just trying to not buy MORE). But I too wanted something I could do 500 miles at a shot on. Arrived at the conclusion that it was much easier/cheaper to do it on a motorcycle. I went with the Honda CTX.

I'm so disappointed in you, BSFF.

:) Nah, not at all. Congrats on the bike. Ride the hell out of it.
