Good actor and from all I hear, a great fella. I grew up with the Rockford Files, plus he was a huge Raider fan. R.I.P. Maverick.

The Rockford Files had some great chase scenes. I wanted Rockford's firebird.

Women wanted him, men wanted to be him.

People forget that Garner was a top club racer and hung out with "the Steve".

Ah com'on... How else would I have seen the pic of James with "the Steve". (Pretty cool!)

I have to give this thread, at least, a rating of SSR.

Man that's an awesome pic. I would post it at every opportunity. All three are deceased? I think Colburn died a few years back.

The still photo was most likely taken on the set of the 1963 movie "The Great Escape" in which Garner, McQueen and Coburn all starred. Yeah, it's not really scooter related but who can forget those scenes toward the end of the film when McQueen makes his escape on a German motorcycle only to be recaptured later on. He did his own riding as stunt men were not for the Steve. The German MC in which the 3 are pictured may have been the same machine that McQueen was piloting in the movie although I don't remember the sidecar.

Yeah, no sidecar in the escape sequences. Do you believe the size of the drum brake on that thing? Must've been a bear to handle on regular roads let alone hopping over barbed wire. The man certainly could ride.

bzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz wrong answer answer Charlie.......that would be Bud Ekins. McQueen did a lot of riding in his films, but when it came to the real stuff, the dangerous stuff, Ekins took over (being Steve's buddy and his stuntman). McQueen didn't even drive the hard stuff in Bullit. He couldn't keep the car in the shot when they went around the corners, so they had to get the pros into the drivers seat. the Steve was awesome, but he wasn't superhuman.

And this is about James Garner, cool in his own right.

Rollin' the TOPPER!!!
