Is it just me?

Post by Whimscootie »

I can't afford to insure TWO scooters with Progressive!

Never had an accident, lowest premium rates chosen for both, over $750 per year! Seems high to me.

The Psycho costs 2x as much to insure as the C3.

Does that seem right?

:x :(

I'm under $200 with two scooters insured through Geico.

Have you checked with Rider Motorcycle Insurance? Full coverage, which includes fire and theft, for my two is only $186 a year. Don't know if rates in OH vs PA would be different but may be worth checking out....

That is high. I am not a fan of progressive. Ended up with GEICO because of their rates and service.

This too was true with me when I had the Honda Met. It must be a 50cc thing.

Insurance rates vary wildly dependant on where you live and many other factors.
I have my insurance with Nationwide as well as all my insurance needs and I think I pay less than $120/year for the Buddy with pretty decent coverage including collision and comprehensive.

i pay $72/yr with full coverage (minus roadside) with State Farm. that's for one scooter. this rate was not dependent on having any other insurance coverages with them.

Progressive wanted an arm and a leg from me as well to insure the Vespa. And I even have my auto coverage with them. So i'm currently using GEICO for the Vespa and Progressive for the cage. I'm going to get quotes before my next renewal, however.

I switched to Geico as well when I got my scooter. $126 full coverage with theft for the whole year.

Geico is 500 a year for 2 people, 4 vehicles, one new.

Progressive and state farm were outrageous.

I insure 4 scooters with Foremost thru AARP. Full coverage just like my car for 171.00 for all four scooters and that includes towing and roadside assistance. Just used the towing and that bill would have been 160.00. Fully covered by my policy. Not sure what it would cost if you are not an AARP member.

You cannot compare motorcycle insurance rates between states. There are too many statutory differences in coverage.

True. And even more important, you really can't compare them among individuals - driving record, age, financial history, all sorts of things can substantially change your rates.

I'm "old", I'm "accident free", but I'm "poor"!

$120 per year quoted today on the 2011 Yammie.

Gonna shop around...

I sometimes think that insurance rates are arbitrary. Every significant life event which is reported to lower insurance rates: turn 25, or 40, or 50, marriage, move to a better better neighborhood, etc, has increased my rates. I pay nearly $500/yr for one BV350, and it's hard to look back far enough to find a ticket. Grrrin and bear it.
