Hey guys,
So I just bought the sponge air filter (Part# P1262030000 from Scooter Lounge) for a buddy 50cc and was wondering if I need to spray the new air cleaner with oil or not like the manual suggests?
"Clean air filter element and dry using compressed air. Spray with approximately 5 grams motor oil
(SAE10W30), or replace filter element if necessary."
Is it ready to be installed right out of the package?
It looks to me that its already lightly oiled...

If it's a sponge type, yes you want it lightly oiled. Most other types of
elements run dry (as in a lot of 4T scooters).
I have a related yet opposite question regarding the 4T air filter. I always thought paper type filters didn't need to be wet to function correctly, yet the manual says to oil them.
Hopefully one of the g men post soon.

I went to my local scooter shop and they said that if it is brand new sponge filter then it should already be oiled and you can install it right from the sealed package.
If you weren't replacing it and just cleaning out your old one you would need to lightly recoat & squeeze in the oil.
They gave me Uni Foam Filter Oil in a 5.5oz. Aerosol Can that cost me about 10 bucks.
