Modern Buddy

After reading several posts on here about a loud whirring noise when you rotate the rear wheel, I am convinced the clutch bearing has gone bad on my 2009 Buddy 125. How hard is it to replace the bearing? Does it need to be done by a Genuine Dealer or is this something that can be handled by my local motorcycle shop if I supply the parts?

I'd have a scooter shop look at it first before you hit it with the parts cannon

Remember the Buddy has a rear drum brake which can normally drag its brake shoes. Are you sure thats not what you're feeling or hearing?

I'm absolutely positive it's not the brakes rubbing.

Clutch bearing? Like the pulley bearing?

Couldn't just replace that pulley assembly?


If that's the case, it's not hard, just need a big adjustable wrench - and don't let the assembly fly apart and knock out a tooth - that spring has a lot of energy stored in it.

Yes, that could also be referred to as the pulley bearing. Replacing the entire assy would definitely be another way to go. I'll check around for one.
