Oil screen install question

During my first oil change, the spring and oil screen fell out, so I didn't see how they were installed. The oil change guide posted shows the oil screen installed so the screen is down inside the spring, but the shop manual seems to show the screen pointed up, so only the black o ring sits on top of the spring. Which way does it go?

My photo in the guide shows it the way that it came out of with the plug, so I assume that down into the spring is OK.

I had the same question! I guess I did it correct, but was second guessing after looking at the service manual that shows the screen facing the opposite direction. LIke the original poster, I didn't see it when it first came out. Thanks for the help!

Use the drain plug on the left side of the scoot before removing the screen. Easier, cleaner, less stress on the family. :D

Almost forgot. OK, here's the picture of the drain plug on the left side of
Buddy. Its just behind the center stand. Nothing else to confuse it with.
After draining the oil I move my custom drain pan (100% Arabica Beans!) to the right side under the screen. Once the screen nut is loosened I keep pressure on it and unscrew with my hand. Keep pushing up as you unscrew it and you won't get a surprise when it comes out. Maybe an ounce or two of oil at most after you remove the screen. The nut and spring came out of mine and then I pulled out the screen. Easy, much less mess. Hope this helps.

I changed my oil, didn't see how the screen came out, fortunately found this Old thread.
The factory service manual shows the screen upside-down! :(

AND it's written in Chingrish to boot.

Thanks to this forum again!
