Original stock exhaust pipes are pretty expensive, how about an aftermarket?

If you're in Westchester county, then you might try hitting up the dealership in Manhattan, Cycle Therapy. Bet money they install aftermarket pipes, and might have a new/used option or two if you're willing to make the trip.

Where in Westchester are you? New York Powersports on Post Road in White Plains is more than capable of installing a Buddy exhaust if you source the part for them. But so are you - it’s a very easy process. Buddies are especially easy to work on.

working on the thing isnt the issue... Sourcing a generic exhaust is the main issue!

There seem to be some used options on eBay (and some wackily-priced ones as well).

I’d be reluctant to suggest any of the cheap Chinese options - who knows how well they’ll play with the stock air intake, carb, and jets. Easy to convert a $50 savings into a 50-hour fiddlefest.

Just search "Buddy 50 exhaust" and you should be good. Watch out for roughhouse exhausts, the spacing isn't compatible.

I’m perplexed as to how some of those non-OEM items are actually “Buddy 50 compatible.

You can't trust any listing that says (Fits: Buddy 50) in the title. It seems like a bunch of sellers are saying that the items they are selling will fit every model of scooter even if they don't(or they might fits with hours of custom fabrication.) I really wish Ebay would try to cut down on this.

It looks like those cheapie mufflers are cut-n-clamp (or cut-n-tack weld). Probably not hours of work with a hacksaw, but probably not a very good outcome, either, requiring a lot of retuning afterwards - possibly indefinitely.

I would much sooner buy a used OEM one. What’s wrong with your original?
