GPS Mount With Barend Mirrors

Post by Point37 »

so i'm running bar end mirrors on my buddy 125 and no windshield...i am looking to put a gps mount for an older model garmin 1350 on the scooter...from what i understand the buddy has 8mm mirror mounts and the throttle side mount is reverse thread...i am thinking of buying...

this for the left side mirror mount...

this arm...

and either this cradle specific to the garmin model...

or this x grip so i can put the garmin in it or my iphone 8...

has anyone ever run a setup like this?...or does anyone see any issues?...i tried suction cupping the oem garmin windshield mount to the speedo glass but it fell off while i was riding luckily i caught it...i'm actually still on the fence whether to buy it or not as i usually don't run a gps but when i do i would rather not use my cell phone battery up on running google maps

I don't have any experience with RAM products, but I use an X-grip type of holder mounted on a flex arm attached to the left side mirror mount. The problem that I have with this setup is that the flex arm tends to droop down the holder on my left hand.

i don't have mirrors in the mounts but i guess i could just get an 8mm bolt and this instead of the tough ball...but this option would be more expensive and adjustment wouldn't be as easy

as far as i'm concerned ram and quadlock are the best mounting systems out there...i think quad lock is more secure but they don't have as many mounting options and if you don't want to have a socket mounted on your device all the time it isn't a good option

Mount this or a similar version to one of your mirror bases. https://www.ebay.com/itm/Motorcycle-Han ... SwwY9bXCoo

Then you have loads of RAM or knock off RAM options. I have this one, and it is very sturdy: https://www.ebay.com/itm/6-Feets-X-Shap ... SwyMVd3Bh2

the mount i posted in my first post was similar but how does this ball connect?...the oem buddy mirrors have the bolts that thread into the mounts...this doesn't

Do you have any sagging issues with your setup? Thanks.
