150/170i headlight

I have a 2008 150 and a 2013 170i.

I’d like to upgrade the headlights to LEDs.

Can anyone tell me a good option for them? I recently ordered 2 bulbs that were supposed to work. Got into the headlight and they were actually too big.

A link to someplace like Amazon would be really helpful!

Many many thanks!!!!

Yeah I read through that discussion previously but everyone involved in it seemed to have some version of a Buddy 50 or some other brand. And I’m not sure how/what could be done with the heat sink that is pictured as I can’t believe it would fit somehow in the headlight housing. So those issues/questions prompted my question here.

Does this bulb fit a 150/170? And what in the world do you do to manage that heat sink?

It's an H4 bulb that will fit the other Buddies.

The reason the Buddy 50 owners are so chatty about it is that unlike the other Buddies, the 50 headlight is powered by AC, not DC, and most LED bulbs are not AC-compatible. That one is.

The reason other scooter owners might be intrigued by this design is that many automotive LED bulbs are cooled by little fans. These, in addition to being another moving part that is susceptible to failure, add LENGTH to the bulb assembly that can't be accommodated in many scooter headlight housings. (Let's debate what the point is of "standard" headlight specifications like "H4" when length, of all things, isn't part of the spec...)

The flexible mesh heatsink is simple to deal with as there is a lot of empty space in the headlight housing, and the mesh can be bent and spread around very easily inside it without adding length. The extra box is the rectifier, which converts the AC power to DC, and which also tucks easily somewhere in the housing since the wires connecting it to the bulb are several inches long and flexible.

Thanks for this info.

So I take it that I don’t need to use the rectifier box. Just install the bulb and work the heat sink into and around the housing.

Should be easy enough.

This is plug and play. No additional wires or ballast. Worked for me on a zuma125 Suzuki address 110 roughhouse 50 and soon a buddy 170
