Better buddy 170i front brake caliper

Post by Therealslimshaggy »

I have found the bigger disk and caliper adapter to make the bigger disk work but this isn’t going to result in a sufficient enough increase. I really like the massive 4 piston caliper with bigger brake pads and braking surface area due the design and pad size themselves they sale for that itty 50cc Honda ruckus. To bad there’s no info if that caliper would fit on something like the 170 buddy that’s freeway capable and in much need of a better brake caliper. The idea a bigger disk only is going to help you is laughable. I’m the OG Taiwan resident of 15 years who knows PGO thin and through. I left riding a 17.5 hp Yamaha aerox 155cc that had VVA and hybrid stop start throttle and didn’t use a spark plug. Yeah asias 20 years ahead of us on scooters except PGO the parent company of genuine. Thing took off like a 300cc but got 100+ mpg. Truly appreciated in Asia but never imported to USA. In USA the market segment is bigger is better so then just go 300cc and 65mpg here. Even though that aerox 155cc would get some 300 vespas and do it with better mpg. Anyway I ran a 235mm front disk on it with a racing boy 4p caliper. It also had a lightened front rcb alloy wheel abs and Michelin pilot moto gp soft 100 80 14 front. It did stop on a dime. Got use to it. Got back to USA. Person pulled out 20 feet from me. Didn’t see me. Tried crossing the median. Went right to my lane and stopped. Needless to say things turned out horrible and the scooter didn’t stop in 20 feet. So I’m thinking what’s the best I can do here…. 220mm rotor. Would that nice 4p caliper work that’s being sold for the ruckus? Here’s the funny part. Another scoot, roughhouse 50 with ncy 2p caliper steel braided line and stock rotor Michelin booper front tire is stopping shorter distances than the oem 190mm and 4p caliper on the buddy 170. It’s a sad day when a 110mm rotor and 2p caliper setup can outbrake the buddy 170. So yeah end of rant. Desperate for better caliper. What might fit the buddy 170 caliper wise? Also no one doing the 120 70 10 and 100 80 10 Michelin city grip tire setup on the buddy? Seems the way to go. At least that’s how it goes in Asia on any larger cc 10 inch wheel scoot

This is what is stopping shorter distances than the oem buddy 170 setup. As hard as it is to believe it’s true. And no the roughhouse isn’t light or much lighter than the buddy 170. In fact it is a very heavy 50cc scooter.
