Naming your Scooter
Do y'all give your scooters a name? Was trying to think of a fun name for my Pamplona, then while listening to the B-52's..... :
All of a sudden your mood changes and your face looks like a cake left out in the rain
Is your name MacArthur Parker? Or is it Reba?
So - Reba it is.....

My Bud I normally refer to as "my Bud"... "The Green Hornet" is just the crime-fighting alter-ego.

Ours are all named with adjectives that sound like names
Preemy: The primavera
Breaky: (because it breaks a lot) The Honda CB350F
Phoebe: (because it's feeble): the Vespa 150
Holly: (because it hauls) the trailer.
We had a Sprint named Lola that defied the convention, and our Honda CR-V is Kira-Kira-san because it (maybe) roughly translates to "Green" and "shiny" in Japanese. And Kira from Black Flag.

I have not named my scooter. I like KRUSTYburger’s name, the Green Hornet, because it gives a nod to the Vespa (the wasp).KRUSTYburger wrote:My Bud I normally refer to as "my Bud"... "The Green Hornet" is just the crime-fighting alter-ego.
KRUSTYburger: where did you get your license plate holder. I am having a difficult time finding a correctly sized license plate holder for a Maryland motorcycle plate that has the screw holes correctly positioned for the Buddy. I have purchased a few license plate holders but they were either the wrong size for the Maryland motorcycle license plate or holes in the license plate holder did not line up with the Buddy’s license plate mounting holes. I also like your Italian flag license plate screws. I have both those and the matching Italian flag valve stem caps.

since my shiny new pamplona is spanish
You guys do realize your scooters came from the Republic of China, right? That little decal doesn't make it European.I also like your Italian flag license plate screws. I have both those and the matching Italian flag valve stem caps.
Not saying that European bikes are "better" or anything (Ever ride a Serveta?) but let's just not forget what we have here. : )

Buddy Love is what I went with. Well for an official name, I also call him scoot scoot (as in "hey scoot scoot" when walking into the garage) I settled on this name because I love my buddy!! I also think it was the guy in the Wedding Singer but I could be wrong.
We're still working on a name for the Stella

I realize my scoot is from TAIWAN... But it is "Series Italia." It has the friggin flag on the plaque! I had to get the ACCESSORIES TO MATCH, um like, DUH!
To anwer the question about the license plate frame, I had it made at autotags4u:
http://www.autotags4u.com/motorcycle-li ... frames.htm
You can have it say whatever you like. As far as fitting the actual plate, I'm not really sure. I thought all state-issued motorcycle license plates were the same size... I still have a temp cuz the post office skrewed me over AGAIN!!! I'll go over to my dad's tomorrow to see if his plate fits in my frame.

Hey, I like 'em. I told the person who commented on your flickr page to chill out with that stuff. So serious.KRUSTYburger wrote:I realize my scoot is from TAIWAN... But it is "Series Italia." It has the friggin flag on the plaque! I had to get the ACCESSORIES TO MATCH, um like, DUH!
I mean, I have Union Jack riding gloves and I'm not British, nor is my scoot... I'm not even a hardcore Anglophile...
Plus, the Taiwanese flag—just not so cool.

This is my first "She" vehicle and decided to go with Skeeter. Corsair was content to refer to his simply as Scooter, so I thought it made a good pairing. (Some may get the Muppet Show reference here).

Yeah, sorry, didn't mean to start a war or anything, I just thought it was sort of funny that we're all actually sort of buying into the facade that they're european scooters. The dude on flickr was a friend of mine that maybe took it a little too seriously, sorry 'bout that.
And the PRC flag is pretty freaking sweet, actually, I need a sticker for my Blur. : )
Chinese separatism is hot right now! Hotter than Europe! Be proud of your Taiwanese scooter!

Wow, just posted on the "best scooter" discussion, but here are my choices.
I just bought an Italia but am going with very American names... allusions. Please help me decide...and I've decided my beautiful Italia is most definitely a she:
1. Hep or Heppy (for BOTH Audrey AND Kate...but mostly Kate)
2. Scout (as in Scout Finch of "To Kill a Mockingbird."). My cat is also named Scout, and I usually call him (named HIM that when I thought HE was a SHE) Scouter, pronounced "scooter," GET IT???
Thanks for your input!

I rather the association go to Audre Lordes before Hepburn.
Ha! That's great--Audre for Lourde is awesome. A total badass rockin' poet who calls it like she sees it.
Thanks for the suggestion--comment!

La Poderosa
I pick my Buddy 125 up on Saturday and I have already decided on "La Poderosa" or "The Mighty One"
Some of you may know that is the name of the Norton 500 Che Guevara rode across Latin America with Alberto Granado in his younger days.
Motorcycle Diaries for some of you.
Sweet sweet marxism.
