Buddy has a reputation

Post by KCScooterDude »

I called today to transfer my insurance over to my new Blur 150. The agent asked me what the make was and when I said "Genuine" she said, "Ah, you must have bought a Buddy!!!" She'd never heard of the Blur, of course, but I'm impressed somebody recognized the model of a scooter that wasn't a Vespa. Genuine is developing a reputation!!!

That's very interesting and encouraging. We used to hear a lot of people whose insurance companies had no idea what the Buddy was and had difficulty quoting rates because they were often basing them on Vespa numbers for cost of replacing parts, etc.

My ins co couldn't even spell "Genuine" correctly on my policy  Apparently I owned a scooter manufactured by "Genuie".

When I first got my Buddy, my insurance couldn't find it in thier system so it was listed as a Vespa ET4 with a note on my insurance card so if the cops asked it said "Vehicle is a Genuine Buddy 125 (VIN#)"

They have Genuine in the system now and my insurance went down almost 100 bucks for the year... would they refund my money... heck no  LOL

People still walk up to me and ask if it's a Vespa though
I don't do much modding on the scoot anymore, just riding :-)

I know a guy who got a lambretta title that read "Lamborghini," and lots of people who got parking tickets on their "Cuppini's" or "Facos" (Crash bar manufacturers), but this one took the cake, all time:

Yup! Even after I pointed it out to them, it still wasn't fixed. Must be "in the system" and therefore will forever be wrong.

When, I was purchasing insurance I ended up having to compare my scooter to a Yamaha Vino 125, and got it's rate.

MOTI could be short for motive power industries... they're a scooter manufacturer.

Yup mine says the same and the dealer told me that that is how FL recognizes the manufacturer... so MOTI is listed.

Just checked my temporary State Farm insurance card, and it seems I'm riding a "2007 Geniune Buddy Motorcycle." My official card arrived today, and it still says, "Geniune."

But hey, at least I don't ride a Bubby. Jewish grandmothers all over would be pretty insulted!!

USAA wouldn't cover my Budd. They sent me to Progressive as part of their "General Agency."

ECS
Yes, that is my scooter.
Yes, I wear a helmet and a FIRSTGEAR armored jacket.
No, I'm not embarrassed to be seen riding it.
Yes, that is an NRA sticker on the fender.

Yep. They have a deal with Progressive for coverage. I'm in it too.
