I must have the most schizo gear known to scooterland.
You know there are several fashion paths-
1. Safety last: flipflops and shorts or spike heels and miniskirt business suit. No or half helmet. Audrey Hepburn or any taiwainese woman in a bubu ad.
I'd love to, but I can't do this. I've already gotten hurt wearing full gear.
2. Mod scooterist: Corazzo 5.0 jacket, pegged jeans, hiking boots and a fighter helmet. Non-armored leather driving gloves.
I have the jacket. I have the boots. I remember the '80's. Can't do the messenger bag, and don't ride a vintage.
3. Sport aka Go Go PowerRangers:
This has a lot going for it. Super comfort summer mesh jackets. Armored leather jackets for winter in hot colors. Space age FF helmets. Over-engineered boots. Armored gloves that you can take to a street fight- or the moon.
I have the mesh jacket, the leather jacket, the helmet, the gloves...
But my legs were FREEZING, and I didn't want to spend 200 bucks on a pair of pink leather pants to match my leather jacket. Nor do I like the idea of looking so outre, mais non? Especially on a buddy.
which brings us to
4. cruiser pirate.
OK. The black jacket is nice thick leather, but it's anti-visible and it has no armor. And it really makes me look mean and butch- not a look I'm going for. Novelty helmets? No. But I must admit the harness boots are safer than lace-up's. And now- I just got a fab pair of black leather chaps with a quilted lining. These babies are WARM, and I can wear regular pants underneath.

And they were only 90 bucks. The quality is incredible.
