I love Gauss Boy magnets, I've used them to build rail guns before....
Not that I would EVER fire super-accelerated ball bearings through people's pop cans. Nope. Never.
Babblefish mentioned attaching the magnets to the crankcase.
Be aware that any metal particles suspended in your engine oil
will be attracted and trapped by this magnet.
Great that they aren't between moving metal parts
but you don't want that crap in your crank case.
At least remove the magnets for your oil change so this
stuff can purge.

I thought about that and decided to put the magnet on the frame and a couple of smaller ones on the oil filter itself to trap ferrous metals in the filter so that they don't get recirculated back into the engine. Kinda like the magnetic oil drain plug, but on a bigger scale.
