Buying a Buddy Online?

Post by Anaxii »

I've been after a scooter for years but seriously started looking for one two days ago. I'm moving to the little fishing town of Homer, Alaska and I simply don't need a large vehicle. The Stella caught my eye initially but then I became enamored with the Buddy for various reasons.

My question is.. There are no dealers here in Alaska for Genuine brand scooters, is there any place I can go to have one shipped to me? I've been to several sites and none seem to ship to Alaska! Buying sight unseen and having it shipped out of the contiguous US seems to be tricky.

I simply must have a cream buddy before summer is over.

Much appreciated if anyone has a solution for my hermit lifestyle!

Isn't that a little risky buying a new scooter online? If you end up with a lemon or crate damage then you are SOL. At least if you pick up a vehicle at a dealership it has to run and be intact at the time of delivery. What models/dealers are available in Anchorage? Is that about 100 miles from you?

Hmmm... What's your fundage? As has been pointed out, buying a drop shipped scooter is risky, plus often the warranty is invalid unless its properly set up by a mechanic. If you can afford it, it might be better to buy the scooter from the nearest out of state dealer and have it delivered via a motorcycle transit company, or a shipping company such as FedEx Custom Critical, that way its properly set up by a Genuine dealer, insuring that the warranty is fully in effect.

Still, what is the point of a warranty if the nearest dealer that will honor it is 1000 miles away?

LOL. The nearest dealer to Homer, AK is in Seattle Washington. 2500 miles away.

Are dealers even allowed to drop ship Genuines?
You might have to take a trip to Washington. Buy it and ship it yourself.
But thats nuts..
Might as well just go to your Yamaha dealer and buy a Vino.

Yeah that seems to be my best bet at this point. :) Buddies are such spiffy little rigs though, maybe I can weasle a local dealer into picking up genuine. Hmmmm.

Hi! We do have cream Buddies coming in about 2 weeks from now. We
can ship to Alaska, but I think it would be around $400 shipping (someone
here got a quote before to do this to AK). The Buddy is $2900 out the door,
so it would be around $3300 with the shipping. We'd have it all set up so
all you'd have to do is take the top of the box off, start it up and go!

Would you like to put a deposit on one?

Best Regards,

Justin

We have shipped a few Stella's to AK and would also be happy to help. None of our Cream color ones coming in are spoken for at this time.

Good deal, I'll be keeping both in mind over the next couple weeks, thank you!

Motocycles are shipped all the time.
All it takes is money; fuel is dear these days.

Your warantee is covered by the manufacturer, not your dealer.
Any dealer can render the manufacturer's responsibility to you, not just the one your bought from.

I have a motorcycle purchased from a dealer 1500 miles away and had excellent warantee service from a local one.
