East Coast Scooter Rally... June 3-5 (NJ)

This is going down first weekend of June, should be huge. It's combining efforts of DC, Philly, Baltimore, New Haven, and Rhode Island into one big event. We're taking over the Jersey Shore, but fist-pumping is optional.


*anyone from DC or Baltimore interested in meeting up before the Bay Bridge and crossing as a group, let me know. My plan is to avoid freeways and head for the Lewes Ferry to Cape May.*

What about crossing the Commodore Barry Br @ Chester? That would look like a much safer option, cars go way too fast on the DMB and there are some wicked crosswinds.

Ha! It's not THAT Jersey Shore. It's South Jersey -- Wildwood. I can't WAIT for this rally. I love Wildwood.

The Commodore Barry is a good choice .. but Chester isn't. It was, at one time, the nation's second most economically depressed city. Things have gotten a little better, but not much. If you're going through Chester, try to do so with as large a group as you can muster.

Try instead hopping on I95 S @ MacDade Blvd in Woodlyn (if coming from the north) and riding the slab for an exit or two ... again, strength in numbers.

you'll be fine, I've rode through worse (Landover and Suitland MD at night). Just go during the day and don't stop to see the sights. Even late night riding through Chester or Camden is muh safer then trying 95 on a scooter less than 350ccs

You well may be right. Still, organize a group ride for the trip if at all possible.

If you are going to the rally, better get a room while you can. I called the hotel where we stay every year in late June. The owner said she would love to have us, but that hey are all booked up, due to the ELKS convention that week. (Wildwood hosts just about every convention for service and military organizations in New Jersey.) Actually, Buddy girl has been going to Wildwood for about 45 years for the VFW convention with her parents, and it has become one of our annual vacations. We have been going as a couple, then family for about thirty years. We are Wildwood Crest types. It is a little quieter, but still close to the boardwalk.

Right-o. I tried to book a room at my favorite motel, The Caribbean, but it was fully booked for that weekend by December. Managed to grab the second-to-last room at the Starlux! The Blue Palms still has rooms, though.

Anyone who already has a room want to 'split' it with me?

My ex-wife has family in Cape May, I wonder if their still talking to me..

Anyone look into any of the 'local' campgrounds?

I haven't checked yet, I'll probably have to wing it and closer to AC, like Sea Isle or Ocean City. I am also down for camping. KaBarash, now's a better time than ever to make ammends with the former in-laws

We are not working with them for the rally...but would be two good options recommended by a person that camps regularly in Wildwood. Both allow dogs. Hope this helps!

I looked at both those, I think Beachcomber has small cabins at reasonable prices available.
My finances are sooo F'ed up these days I may end up skipping it.....

Keep checking the hotels, we picked up a room at the Star Lux just today, must have been a cancellation, didn't I read the Elks or something had a meeting also booked? Maybe the scooters scared the elks away. They done run oft scairt.
