To Santa Barbara and Back!

You asked for it. And now you've got it. The LA Scooter Group "To Santa Barbara and Back" ride is a reality.

Come join us for a full day (OK, a very full day) of riding through some of the best and most beautiful scenery that Southern California has to offer.

We begin our ride at Sunset and the PCH (are those cheers I hear coming from from the westside?), ride all the way up the PCH until it ends, and then just keep on going. We'll wind through Port Hueneme and Oxnard, then cruise into Ventura where we'll stop at Duke's for breakfast by the shore.

From Duke's we ride through Ventura, making our way to the backroads that wrap around Lake Casitas. Then it's on to Montecito and State Street in Santa Barbara. This is a gorgeous ride full of scenic views and beautiful, twisty, tree covered roads. Really spectacular riding.

In Santa Barbara everyone will have a couple (2-3) free hours to relax, explore, and do as they wish. So eat, shop, go to museums, the beach, whatever you want to do.

We'll begin the ride back at about 3 or 3:30pm, in time to be back home before nightfall. The ride will follow the same beautiful, twisty, roads through to Lake Casitas but then will head east (along different beautiful, twisty, roads) to Ojai and Santa Paula, where we will then ride (in group formation) along Hwy126 to Valencia, finally following the Old Road back to North Hollywood. If it is particularly hot that weekend we can, as an alternative, come back down along the coast again as it can be 20º cooler there. We'll see how everyone feels.

Here is the route there.
Here is the route back.

IMPORTANT: This is our longest ride by far. Again, this is a LONG ride. We will take plenty of rests along the way, but please do take the distance into consideration when RSVPing.

State DMV laws and traffic speeds for this ride mandate that all scooters attending be highway legal (150cc+) and capable of sustaining 55mph (real mph not speedo). This doesn't mean we will be riding at those speeds for the whole ride, but there are lengthy stretches where we will. Please be sure you are comfortable (and safe) riding at those speeds for an extended period.

To RSVP and for complete ride details follow this link.

Here's to a beautiful day of great riding and great fun. I look forward to seeing everyone there.
