Genuine "Family Reunion" Ride, March 24, San Diego

Post by ericalm »

Official Announcement and Details!
Dear Genuine Scooterist,

The founder and President of Genuine Scooters, Philip McCaleb is coming to town and he wants to take you to lunch.

Philip McCaleb is currently traveling around the country and on Sunday, March 24th, he'll be in San Diego where he's planning to take a nice scooter ride through our fair city with anyone who owns a Buddy, Stella, Blur or other Genuine scooter. After that, he has graciously offered to buy lunch for all those Genuine scooters owners who make it out to the ride.

This ride will meet and greet at Vespa Motorsport, March 24th, at 10am and depart at 11am. After that, it'll cruise through San Diego (without going on the freeway) and end up at K-Pasta down in Imperial Beach. This restaurant is a great location (and vegetarian friendly) and you can check them out on Yelp if you're curious: http://www.yelp.com/biz/k-pasta-imperial-beach

They've got a great reputation and are excited to host us. The whole thing should be lots of fun, so save the date and plan on meeting and eating with Philip McCaleb.

Event Details
What: Scooter Ride and free lunch for Genuine Scooter Owners
Where: Meet and greet at the shop. Ride will head over to K-Pasta in Imperial Beach
When: March 24th.
Time: Meet at 10am. Ride leaves at 11am.

**Please RSVP by March 20th to sales@vespamotorsport.com**

Sadly I will miss this. Big Adventurists ride the day before so no way to get there in time. Have a blast everyone! Wish I could be there!

Do you know if they've got a comprehensive list of places they'll stop on this "tour"? I couldn't find any information on the Genuine website, nor on their facebook page.

No, they don't set them all up in advance. Best thing to do would be to talk to your local dealer! I don't think they did Austin last year.

Some depends on Philip's travel and other schedules.

This was a wonderful time! Thanks to Philip for the inspiration and lunch, and Scooterwest for the pre ride meeting spot and refreshments. It was nice to meet some formumers in the flesh- ericalm, jijifer, dirty rat, and shootzkabootz (sorry I was obsessed with your pants :P ), was there anyone I missed where I did not make the real world screen name connection? I will be looking forward to the ride cam pics and Amerivespa!

Got to meet a bunch of MB members at last! Hope you're all planning on coming to Amerivespa. It's going to be EPIC.

A big MB thanks and hug to everyone who came out. Special props to jijifer for hosting and taking me out Saturday night.

A HUGE shout out to Alex, Steve and the crew at Motorsport. Now that my local shop is closed, I'm even more envious that you guys have such a great one in SD. I hope people appreciate all they do to help the local community and riders in the region.

I had a couple Stella issues at 6:30 am Saturday as I was departing. My headlight was out, for one thing. I fixed one problem en route by changing the fuse in the parking lot of the San Clemente dealer.

Then, at some point while riding through Pendleton, I got a hole in my exhaust. I knew that's what it was, could see the hole and figured I'd just keep an eye on it and get a ride back to LA with Mike from NoHo Sunday night (instead of riding back Monday) if I needed to.

So I pull up to Motorsport after 7.5 hours riding and start pulling off my cowls to figure out if I screwed up the wiring when doing a little electrical project the night before. Alex spots me outside and comes to say hi. Then he starts poking around and says, "Heck, let's roll it inside and test the wiring." Moments later, Robot's working on it (though busy with other things, I'm sure) and soon I have a new switch and a new exhaust. (I wasn't going to mention the exhaust problem, figuring I'd just to go to Rt. 66 to get replaced.)

Saturday night, someone notices my tail light is out. Alex pops up with a screwdriver, checks the bulb, and magically has a new in there in seconds!

Thanks also to Skootz for guiding me through the Badlands yesterday. I'd have gotten lost with all those turns out be Elsinore/Temecula/wherever the heck we were.

was a super good time and you know Eric, you're always welcome!

I need a new top end. My big bore kit lasted 22k, so I can't complain and I'll have enough time to break her in before Amerivespa!

So called San Diego was picked. It sure was a fun weekend of scooting!

YES! we are super lucky to have Motorsports!

First Post, First Ride

Post by Dr. Dave »

Greetings to everyone. This is my first post on the forum.

I've had my 170i for almost 2 years now. I ride it almost daily back and forth to the office, about 3 miles. So, this was my first ride. What a great time!

Really looking forward to getting out there again...just for the fun of it.

big thanks to Phil and the guys at Motorsport.
