Polini Pipe for Stella 4T ***REVISITED***

Ok, so the Polini Pipe was delivered today...
So off to the garage I go....

here it is right out of the box..

First step is to loosen but NOT remove the bolt holding the muffler to the frame just ahead of the rear tire.. 17 mm

The go ahead & remove the 2 10mm nuts from the exhaust header studs and lockwashers

Now go back & remove the big bolt under the frame & drop your old exhaust.

Hang your new muffler under the frame with the large bolt. Start the bolt, but dont tighten it.

No go to the header & seat the pipe. Dont forget to make sure the silver metallic gasket is in there (NOT pictured) It goes ontop of the pipe.
And the start your nuts & wiggle the whole works & tighten up some but not alot..

go back & tighten up your big frame bolt..Tight, But not ass-hole tight!

Prepare to attach the silencer..

Now I had to remove my smoothie (baby moon) cause the silencer was touching it...

Attach the silencer with the nuts & washers provided..

Go back over everything & tighten all up especially your 10mm exhaust header nuts, then your done!

Theres' no video cause the thing is as quite as a church mouse farting. I think the stock exhaust is louder than this. Im a bit disapointed in the sound..
BUT I got plans already to mod this thing, at a later date..

Cool! and THANK YOU for taking the time to post. Please let us know how the performance of your bike changes. I'm interested in getting a bit more oomph out of mine.

ALrighty... I removed the Polini Silencer even AFTER taking all the packing out of it..

Then I had to make a (b) mated flange to fit the existing (a) Polini flange.

Bolted up the (b) flange.

Then slipped on the new tailpipe & clamped it to the new (b) flange

Nice, I really like the sound, not too loud, just right. How much increased speed did you get with the mod? Can I drop my creme Stella by for this mod when it arrives :P .

Mulliganal... yes you can, BUT
you can do all this yourself.
You buy the Polini and install it.
I'll make you the (b) flange & send it to ya.
Probally less that $15..
Then you can pick out your own tailpipe of your choice & clamp it on!

I havent rejetted it. I dont see a need for it right now...
Although I havent 'floored' it yet.. but am getting closer and closer every day.
It doesnt die, stall, sputter nor backfire.
It just seems to scream without hesitation.
Accellerates without question when asked. Idles good.
So at 800 miles, I'll change the plug & see what itll do@ full throttle....

Ok. 2 weeks.ago... at 600 miles . Did.a.plug.chop.then went up one.size.jet. another plug chop.then settled on a 100 jet. A bit brown...

Hi! I just ordered the full Polini package (carb-cylinder-pipe)

It's on it's way right now, but I had doubt, will the rear wheel still come off without removing the silencer?

You know.... I don't know... I didn't have the stock Polini silencer on long enough to need to pull the rear wheel..
I changed tailpipes quickly to the chrome fatty.. And I DID have to remove it to get the wheel off...

Thanks for sharing your build! I think I'm going to go with the polini now that my stock exhaust is up for replacement. I love what you did with replacing the silencer. I was thinking about the GPR but it's going to take 2 months to get to Texas and the weather is to nice to wait that long.

Did you looknat the 'Tasso' 4t pipes. I like them alot. Especially the one on each side dually!

If any of you guys are members of the LML of Great Britain on FB, they're having a group buy of the GPR pipe. Stainless Steel 2 year warranty. I ordered one. $206.
Best thing for me is that you can keep your spare tire.

I dig how somebody fitted a side stand and a center stand on that blue Star.
I wonder if thats a 1 pc deal or 2 separate stands stacked as I had to do mine on my 2t.

I had them stacked, looked too junky for me, went back to just center stand.

Been searching for a few days, would one of you guys know what size nuts i need to re attach my exhaust to the crank case? They rattled off...

M6 And use nordlocs, double nuts, or the nuts with the circlip inside to prevent it from happening again.

Take the bolt to the hardware store. I'm guessing it's metric.

They're threaded studs in the head, so no easy way to get them off.

Luckily the hardware store is right around the corner. I got 10mm first (way to big), but then i took my 10mm wrench with me and got 6mm and they fit perfect. Thanks guys
