ever since I got the scoot there have been times she's acted starved and quit on me, I was thinking it must be the CA emissions stuff vapor locking things because every indication pointed to it...
runs, starve, quit, pop cap/look/ fuel ok, replace, run, starve, quit, repeat...

WTF?!?!

replaced cap with 2 stroker, ran ok but over fill and get a mess as gas aqirts out of the vent...oops

replaced inline fuel filter (crap, original was still there!) only available was a generic bell shape at least twice as wide as original aaand problem got magnatudes WORSE!

realized FINALLY
1) the black feed line was too long and 2) the grey output to the carb was also (both by about 1/2") and 3) the 'bell' shape of those filters don't fill high enough to flow into the outlet. :?

trimmed lines, replaced with a small bell filter (actually slightly smaller diameter than original) and TAH-DAH! problem fixed!

did a 62 mile run from marysville, ca to bangor ca WITHOUT so much as a hickup....

if your experiencing the same stalls, check line lengths and the filter bell shape, it may not be filling to a level to flow into the outlet.

There's a fuel filter inside the tank at the petcock, so you really don't even need that inline one. My guess is it's there to act as an adapter between the 3/8ths fuel line from the tank, and the 1/4" line from the carb.
I got a metal airline adapter and eliminated the filter.

I don't have the tool for the 'in the tank filter', and isn't it more of a strainer than a filter? (more porous)

No, I was saying that I run without the in-line filter.

yes, I was actually thinking at the time 'do I really need this?', but I wasn't sure if the in tank one was fine enough to be a filter by itself.
